Just finished listening to this one on the radio, and I must say, Zachery not only proved me wrong, but impressed greatly, and it looks like my original statement of this could be the most athletic Bell Co. team we've seen, could be true. Great job tonight by the Bobcats, looks like we're starting off on the right foot again :fight:

 

Also, Greer had a great game, 170+ on 16 carries, very impressive.

I was at the game and was not overly pleased as I am sure the coaching staff is not either. Bell gave up way too many yards and played bend don't break defense. They did not tackle very well. Zachary looked good. He made a very athletic play when he threw for a deep TD just to keep from getting sacked.

Also Matt Simpson was back and made his presence felt. He had a great INT retun for a TD early in the 2nd qtr. It was good to see him back.

The interception return really took the wind out of Garrard's sails. Bell was solid, but they have much more improving to do before they can compete with Lexington Catholic. It's early, though, and I suspect they will round into shape as the years were on (I guess it's tough to make that statement when they won 50-6;)). My biggest disappoint with Bell tonight was that they didn't get to try a field goal!

 

As for Garrard, the score got a little out of hand late. I thought the Lions played pretty well, especially in the first half. The defense tackled okay early and the offense had some movement. Too many costly first half penalties kept the chains from moving. In the second half the size of Bell really began to wear down the Garrard kids. I left disappointed that the score wasn't closer, but confident that there can be improvement with this team.

 

I was once again impressed with Tyler Ray (#1) from Garrard. He pours out absolutely everything he has on every play. The backfield looked capable with Fred Hayes (#7) again showing quickness, while Jamarious Merritt (#2) and Jansen Penman (#32) running hard up the middle. Hopefully the young men will look beyond an early loss to a Top 20 state-wide team and realize that the schedule gets much more manageable and there are many potential wins to be had.

Did Dominic Carton get any touches? I know he showed a lot of potential, but has had to play behind some veterans. How is he looking?

Can anyone keep Dudley and the Boys from running the table this season? Bell looks to be very strong. Anything short of a State Championship might be a disappointment up on Log Mountain.

I agree, but they seem to have all the parts and they have one of the best coaches in the state. It is very possible. I can not see anyone testing them until late in the playoffs.

That might be a problem. I'm not sure they'll see the speed in their opponents to prepare them for a potential state semifinal or state final. I think most likely they will run the table, but they would be well served to have a couple challenges along the way.

True enough, the schedule might not be tough enough for this team. It may have served them better to take a loss or two during the season, in order to take the big prize. Of Course, Dudley likes to win and he might have a trick or two up his sleeve for the Lex Cath and Highlands if he can take his team that far.

Doesn't have to worry about Highlands. Bell is 4A; Birds are 5A.

He is still sporting a cast on his right wrist. Will have to play catch up....but should be returning soon.
