You are right they did try and pass the ball last year but that was not design, their running QB was lost for most of the season and only returned for the playoff game. Had he still be running the show I think you would have seen a different offense as the year went on, in fact it would have looked alot like what they are doing this year.

 

Of course their line is a little bigger and stronger this year and that helps.

Becuase the kid that played QB last year did not run that type of offense well, he was a throwing QB and if you are running the type of offense that Whitley is running now you need a big strong QB who can turn it up in the hole if need be.

The backup QB is Zac Eastham and yes he played two series at Whitley Co. and three series against Tates Creek. He threw for 221 yds. against Tates Creek with 4 TD's and threw for 63 yds. and a TD against Whitley Co.

By comparison what were Chris Muse's numbers? I know Eastham went against 2nd string/JV in all likelihood, so I'm not comparing them. I just haven't heard any hard numbers for ht PC varsity from either game.

His stats could not have been overwhelming since PC only had about 200 yards total in three quarters. He probably had about 40 yards rushing and about 60 passing so he accounted for about half of the offense.

Saw this one and for the scrimmages sake, Whitley was better. For a regular season game, I would have to go with Pulaski.

Just like 1st and goal said, he could start for every other team in the District. Pulaski Co. is very fortunate to have a backup like Zac.

Whitley out hit, out ran, and generally out played Pulaski all night long, and it appeared during one time out, the Pulaski coach going to the huddle just threw up his hands in frustration.

 

It might be a different game but I would still take Whitley.

 

 

I would love to see these two teams play on a regular basis, it is an easy trip for both and could develop into a nice rivalry. I have alot of repect for what Coach Hines has done with that program in a county where there is lot of competion for the talant with Somerset and Southwestern.

Whitley Co. outplayed Pulaski Co., plain and simple. The 2's from Pulaski have played really well in their two scrimmages. Some of them are now 1's. Pulaski Co. has worked on their deficiencies this week.

You can tell a kid to prepare for a scrimmage like a game till you are pink in the face and the kid will still know that it is just a scrimmage. It wasn't a game, regardless of how people perceived each team to take it.
