Justin Morneau (winner) - Was hitting .323 at the ASB. Now hitting .303 with no HRs since July 31

 

Josh Hamilton (2nd) - Was hitting .310 at the break. Now hitting .302. Has seven HRs since the ASB after hitting 21 in the first half

 

Lance Berkman - Has seen his average drop 15 points since the ASB and has hit just three homers since the break -- all in the last week

 

Ryan Braun - Has seen his average rise 14 points and has seven HRs since the break

 

Dan Uggla - Has seen his average dip 23 points and has three HRs since the ASB

 

Grady Sizemore - Has seen his average drop eight points and has no HRs in August

 

Chase Utley - Had 25 HRs at the ASB. Has hit five since and has seen his BA drop seven points.

 

Evan Longoria - was hitting .275 at the ASB. Now hitting .278 and has hit six HRs since the break. Now hurt.

What are Dunn's numbers since the All-Star break? As badly as Dunn has struggled this month, he still trails Ryan Howard by only 1 HR in the NL. It seems Howard has been awfully quiet of late as well.

Dunn was awesome in July, but has struggled in June. That is my point, just to inconsistent of a player to be awarded with a contract approaching the 15-20 million mark.

I am speculating for next year. That would of been the figure when he got his arbitration offer from cincy.

True, and a lot of them will be moved, especially the players who play in a smaller market. It is the nature of the beast in baseball.

 

I like Dunn, and wish him well. The Reds, the Reds just can't afford him anymore (after this year).

When outfielder Adam Dunn arrived, the Diamondbacks inserted him in the cleanup spot and have watched their offense take off.

 

 

The D-backs have scored 38 runs in their six games since obtaining Dunn from Cincinnati on Aug. 11, even after being shut out by Roy Oswalt on Sunday, although Dunn was loath to take credit.

 

 

“I think it’s coincidental. These guys are a lot better on offense than people give them credit for,” said Dunn, whose 32 home runs are one off the major league lead.

 

 

Dunn has hit safely in five of his first six games with the D-backs entering Monday’s off day. He was hitting .286 with a .464 on-base percentage, and he reached base five times in an 11-5 victory at Houston on Saturday, on two hits and three walks. His first inning single drove in the first run.

 

“He takes a lot of pressure off everybody in the lineup,” manager Bob Melvin said. “We’re deeper, and it’s made our lineup tougher to navigate. He hasn’t hit multiple home runs, but that’s coming.”

 

 

Dunn has two doubles and three RBIs, and had his first stolen base with his new team, and his first since April 9, when he swiped second Saturday.

 

 

He was in the middle of three big innings recently, getting a two-run single in a five-run fifth at Colorado on Thursday, walking in a three-run first at Houston on Friday and singling in a five-run first Saturday.

 

 

“He has a terrific eye. Even when he is not hitting, he’s on base,” Melvin said. “Those things are very impactful. He makes everybody a better hitter with his presence.”

 

Inside Edge: It remains to be seen how the D-backs will juggle their personnel when OF Justin Upton returns from a rehab assignment this week, but it is a good bet that OF Adam Dunn will spend some time at first base.

LBBC - he wasn't the problem with the Reds as you probably know. As the link I posted pointed out, he could have used more chances at bat with runners on base. While his RISP was bad you simply can't discount his impact on the entire lineup. Too many of us simply treat him like a fantasy league player and don't look at the makeup of the entire lineup.

I agree 100% with you.

And his bat out of the lineup and this team will struggle for the next 3-4 years. He was not the problem on the Reds team. And you cannot afford to have his bat in the lineup and you are going to compete once every 10 to 15 years. If the Reds cannot afford him, than simply there is no reason to be a Reds fan unless you like a losing team.
