KVCA Preseason Poll Released

 

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Kentucky Volleyball Coaches Association released its 2008 Preseason KVCA High School Volleyball Top 25 Coaches Poll today. Poll was voted on by KVCA member varsity head coaches.

 

Ten of the state’s 16 regions are represented on the preseason poll. Poll is conducted and distributed by the KVCA.

Didn't Cov Holy Cross lose a fair amount of talent?

IMO, Beechwood, HC and SK are not top 25, not even close. NCC is the top team in NKY w/ND and St Henry right behind. Boone might be between 20-25 but not 12th.

You might want to check yourself on that SK not being Top 25. They have a talented team that has played together for the last 3 seasons as a club team. I think they will surprise alot of teams. Top 20 is a good place for them. They only have one senior but they should still be very good.

I believe that before the season is over that NCC will take the place of St Henry and Notre Dame as the best team in Northern Kentucky in that coaches poll . Right now rankings are based on last years play . NCC played poorly in the first round of the state tournament last year while Notre Dame was runner-up to Assumption and was given a tough match by St Henry in advancing to the tournament to represent the 9th region . NCC had very little trouble in winning the Gold medal at the Bluegrass Games two weeks ago and were very impressive in that tournament .

Hasn't Assumption won the state tourney several years running?

8 of the top 10 are private schools....what a shocker!

If the rankings are based on last year where is Ryle High School?

They did win their district last year. I believe they should be in the top 25.

Carguy, thanks for the rankings. Where did you get them? If you see them each week it would be nice if you could post them. It probably would lead to some interesting discussions.

Don't they loose a number of seniors after this year? If so, that would make it tough to be the best next year.

Yeah you are right, those girls are seniors this season. My bad. I have not made that next school year adjustment yet.

There were 10 seniors at the beginning of tryouts . Four of these were cut from the team at the end of tryouts so I believe that that leaves at least 6 seniors remaining on the team ,four starters plus the libero who comes in and replaces one of the senior starters and one other player .

Lloyd over Simon Kenton in 2 games and Beechwood takes 3 to beat Bellevue. UNC may be correct with his assessment. Although, I was surprised to see the Simon Kenton score.
