Speaker Pelosi

Isn't he the only president to ever publically use the "f" word during a meeting of Congress or did I imagine that?

Assuming you're talking about Cheney....When did he become president? ;)

Oops...so many little errors in the past few days that I haven't caught. Too bad I didn't catch it when it could still be editted! :madman:

When have you ever seen a VP make a similar speech? In my time, the VP has always been a background figure.

No, I am saying that I have seen nothing in his character that convinces me that if he was president, that he could believably make a speech similar to Pres. Reagon or even GWB for that matter.

Cheney has no humanistic characteristics in my eyes. I do not see him making a speech similar to Pres. Reagan after the Challenger explosion and even though GWB's speech after 9/11 was more angry, he showed compassion, too. Does Dicky Cheney know compassion? And, no, I don't want only a "feel good" type of president, but I do want someone that is able to speak for our country with compassion and sympathy in the event of national or international tragedies.

I think he would surprise you. I remember being very impressed with his debate in 2000 against Lieberman.

And I remember being NOT impressed at all.

In earlier times, either Cheney or Leahy would have been dead or wounded by a dueling pistol. Leahy is lucky duels were outlawed decades ago (so is Chris Matthews). My guess is that Leahy would have apologized or turned tail and run.

Did you catch Cheney's comedy routine in front of the National Press Club? He has a great sense of humor and is a much better public speaker than GWB. It sounds like somebody has fallen victim to the Democrats' concerted public demonization of Dick Cheney. Cheney would have made a great US President and his wife would have been a wonderful First Lady.

Oh, please...save yourself the seven seconds that it takes you to make such a ridiculous personal statement.

I did see Cheney's comedy routine that you speak of...just because he is a good comedian doesn't mean he would make a good president. FWIW, I think Laura Bush has been a fine First Lady.

I agree with your statement about Laura Bush and my statement about Mrs. Cheney was not a slap at Laura Bush.

If I remember correctly he received accolades from many people on both sides of the aisle for his performance. Very articulate and serious and actually answered the questions instead of beating around the bush. The VP debates that year were much better than the presidential ones.

Which was like watching a sequel to Dumb and Dumberer.

The Vice President is President of the Senate

Which was like watching a sequel to Dumb and Dumberer.

True, but it made for some great Saturday Night Live skits.
