July 24, 200818 yr Maybe after drying and with deductions they didn't make the 160" requirement. This deer was killed in Henderson last year but didn't make it. It green scored (gross) a 172 7/8. Nice deer, and taken with a bow made it even more special.
July 24, 200818 yr Author Nice deer, and taken with a bow made it even more special. The guy is from Georgia and he took at a pay to hunt club. www.highgroundhuntingclub.com They took quite a few nice deer the past couple of years. But they are an example of how hunting is going corporate. They are buying / leasing more property every year.

I don't mind the "pay to hunt" idea as long as it is fair chase and not a high fence hunt. The part I dislike the most is that most (not all) of the so called celebrity hunters don't have a clue what the hunting tradition means and are in the hunt for all the wrong reasons.
July 24, 200818 yr I was really surprised not to see Lewis County on either of those lists. I know of at least two 170 class typical bucks that were taken last year, but for whatever reason they must not have submitted them to KFW. Lewis County has become a haven for out of state hunters. It is virtually impossible to find land to hunt unless you lease it. The good ole days of going out and asking a farmer to hunt is over.Your quite right about finding hunting spots in Lewis Co. Grouse hunted for 13 straight years (1992-2003)in Lewis and was only turned down a couple times. Went back last year to some of my favorite places to hunt to only find out that the property was being leased. One place that I lost is to the Hank Parker's 3D TV show. I actually got to see one of the show's were Hank's son killed a pretty nice non-typical in a place were I used to kill a lot of grouse. To top it off, David Fritt's lease's the property across the road.

High Ground's properties are all fair chase but that is about all I can say good about them.

I have a lot of fond memories of hunting in Lewis Co. Last time I hunted there was in 1987 for Grouse. We saw one Grouse all day and it happened to be when we were getting into the car and it flew over us.

Wouldn't this be the largest taken with a bow last year? Can't remember BC excepts deer in velvet. Also, tell your brother awesome deer. I love that drop/double main beam.

BC does not except deer in velvet. PY does. Deer in velvet will score higher is the reason BC does not except them.
August 14, 200818 yr My uncle Killed A 22 Pointer in Lewis. Mitch Hull. Killed it with bow. I think it scored 207 non-typical. Oh and does anyone ever use Game trail cameras?

I use a game camera, but mine is out of order at the moment. I need to get it back to working. I have been seeing a couple of nice bucks near my feeder and I don't have any pictures of them. The game cameras are nice. I have seen bucks on mine that I had no idea that they where on my farm. I have a Moultrie DGS-200 it takes good pictures, but this is the second time it has broken down on me. The first time it was in warranty and they sent me a new camera to replace it. Now it is locked up, so I need to contact them again. Here is a link to a forum that I belong to all about Game Cameras. http://www.chasingame.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=1&topicdays=0&start=0
August 14, 200818 yr I just have a $100 dollar one from wal-marts. but its awesome. Do YOu put any plots out for them? Have you ever tried c'mere deer?
August 14, 200818 yr I just have a $100 dollar one from wal-marts. but its awesome. Do YOu put any plots out for them? Have you ever tried c'mere deer? I do have plots, but I have mine on a feeder that has been out for several years. The feeder is in an area that I can veiw it from about 300yds without being seen by the deer. When I have the camera out I only collect the pictures about every 2 weeks and refill the feeder at the same time. The less time you spend around the feeding area the better chances of a good buck visiting the feeder. I have never tried the c'mere deer.
