As far as what Spike said, I think he is using a little hyperbole here, but I do see his point (not about the time measurement). If Obama is elected, it will be a step forward toward a more "uni-racial" America.

I think it will be problematic, hope I'm wrong.

We all know why those are there.

I would like to think so, but I am not sure it would.

 

There is a lot of people who stand to lose a lot of power, money, influence if they cannot continue there message that Black America is being held down.

 

At the same point, if Obama is defeated, I think they will jump all over it as another example of white America not accepting a black man as candidate. (And yet, ironically, that candidate is as much white as he is black.)

 

I really fear for this country on one hand if Obama is defeated.

 

And then based on his policies, I fear for this country if he is elected.

 

I really agree with the bolded and I think that is what we are seeing with Rev. Jackson. But, with Obama being elected, they lose some power and I think that is a good thing. Additionally, maybe those areas where Black America really IS being held down will begin to lessen. If Obama IS elected, I hope for both of those things.

I am sure there is a whole host of issues with it.

 

But since he is running for President, IT DOES play politically. No way around it whether he likes it or anyone else likes it or not.

 

It will be a politically quandry for him.

 

Does he play up being a party of both worlds or not? Does he play up more being of African American descent? Or of white descent?

 

Do you believe that these questions have not been discussed by his handlers????

Am. I meant me as a voter who voted for Bush, McConnell and Davis in the last election. Davis election before then, I voted independent.

 

Heck, I supported Jessie Jackson many moons ago. Made my grandfather, who was from, as they say another generation, furious.

This (race issue) never was and is not an issue with me at all. There are plenty of reasons that I cannot support Mr. Obama and race certainly has nothing to do with it. His experience, voting records, policies, stance on certain issues (depending on what day it is :lol:), imo way too "elite" and pompass to relate to or help the common public, is more comfotable with a telepromter than he is with speaking direct with people. So, there are a few reasons that I cannot vote for the man and trust me, race has absolutely nothing to do with any of it.

 

The only positive that I have seen with Obama is that Jesse Jackson came out and spoke against him, that can't hurt and is a plus for anyone.

It does not seem to be played as much for political gain as the other side is.

 

I keep hearing over and over that he is having problems gathering support for the white, blue collar supporters of Hillary.

 

It seems that his bi-racial nature would be of benefit to him. But that aspect seems to get little play in the media.

 

I wonder if his handlers feel that it would not be as much of a benefit to play up that part of his heritage because of the damage it might possibly do in his being the first African-American candidate.

While you are correct that some (especially some older voters) would never vote for him, there will be some who will vote for him no matter what, so it will balance out.

I agree 110% with "oldrambler" in his above statement. Too me, it's all about Mr. Obama not having the experience nor voting record for me to support him.

Getting to be such an old, tired, worn out excuse really. As Theoldguy stated, there are as many that WILL vote for him because of his color, so it's a moot point.

They may go more for Obama than you think, there are a lot of people with "white guilt" that will also vote for him so they can say they're not bigots. I've met more than my share of them. What ever happened to voting on issues?

Nowadays, too many people vote for the wrong reasons. Age, color, looks, party affiliation, emotional attachment, etc...
