Why is it that all environmental blame comes back to Gore? People have had concerns about our environment a lot longer then Al Gore has been at the forefront.

 

I agree, I guess that it is bc that Green Gore is now considered the "spokesperson" for this, I mean after all, he did win the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize and all from this .

 

Come to think of it, Al Gore may have invented Gobal Warming :eek:.

I believe the bigger concern is the delivery method, but that's just a guess.

Anyone who has read my posts knows I'm a card carrying conservative, but somehow this all just doesn't seem right. Oil companies raise the price of gasoline to unprecendented levels and everyone from the guy at the window of the local McDonald's to the President of the United States does a quick about face and caves in to demands to drill previously off limit areas.

 

I think we can safely drill and pipe Alaskan oil. The Prudhoe Bay project showed that an above ground pipeline system can be utilized and maintained with only minimal enviromental effects. However, it does concern me that those who are charged with creating and enforcing regulations to ensure the safety of such projects are so easily swayed by the manipulations of oil companies and the demands of consumers.

In some respects, yes. They were not responsible for the Arab oil embargo of the '70s, so we gave them permission to drill in Prudhoe Bay Alaska over the objections of many enviromentalists. (Those objections have since proven groundless). The great Alaskan pipeline was predicted to be the catalyst needed to limit our dependence on foreign oil until alternatives could be developed. Sound familiar? Thousands of oil wells in this country are capped because it would cost more to extract the low pressure, low volume petroleum than it would cost to import middle eastern oil. Well, now oil is $130 plus per barrel. Is is time to reopen these wells?

 

My point is, we have the means now to reduce or limit our dependence on imported oil bought from our most dangerous threats. I, for one, am willing to pay four bucks for a gallon of gas, but only if I see results.

Almost $40 can be attributed to the weak dollar. Blame OPEC for the rest.

Gore's net worth increased an estimated $100 million last year as a result of his global warming alarmist activities. He is the face of the opposition to the user of fossil fuels and he is the man most responsible for whipping up the opposition to new coal-fired power plants and expanded drilling.
