It was a great game. Harrison shortstop Eric Case made several outstanding plays prior to the final play of the game. The Thorobred defense was tough and Brandon Martin pitched a heckuva game going 8 2/3 allowing 4 hits and 0 earned runs.

The 3 seniors will be missed, Brandon Martin, Beau Sanders and Clifton Schnider. Harrison should be tough again next year as they return 1 Freshman, 6 Sophomores and 1 Junior from tonights starting line-up.

Hats off to the Harrison County faithful who packed the house tonight. A record crowd, a great game and a great season for the Thorobreds comes to an end at 35-6.

Harrison may have helped the other teams out as Champa is not eligible for Friday and Maronde is not eligible to pitch again until Sunday, so if there are no rain-outs Maronde is done.

Congratulations to Coach Whitaker, the Thorobred Coaching Staff and players on a great season!

A couple of questions from the game.

1) If Coach Martin was tossed why was he allowed to stay in front of the dugout calling all the signals and such? The correct call was made on the play at 1st base. Apparently he was supposed to be confined to the dugout. I have never witnessed that in baseball. Any time a coach is tossed they are usually tossed completely.

2) Did the Catholic catcher allow the umpire to get hit with a Maronde fastball? There was a swing and a miss and the catcher never touched it as it hit the plate umpire in the chest. It happened after Catholic Coach Martin had been complaining. It was as if the catcher never made an attempt to catch the ball at all.

I'll speculate on #1. If tossed, he should have left the field and facility. He could be "restricted", which means to/inside the Dugout, which at Applebee's are accessible by steps and elevated below the playing field.

I'll not comment on #2.

The catcher did go to the mound right before that pitch (for the record the ball was not fouled off)...you can listen to it on khsaa.org

Anyone know who is looking at Brandon Martin other than Cumberlands? I would think after his effort tonight that his stock could go up some.

I was told these schools were in attendance, I am sure that they talked to the lefty.

Tough loss for Harrison I was pulling for ya. Great year and way to represent the 10th and showing everyone in the state that the 10th is for real giving probably the best pitcher in the stat a run for his/Cath's money.

Great game, I felt horrible for the SS as said earlier he made several nice plays in the game. I heard more than 1 person say they thought the pitcher deflected the ball a little, I didnt see it ( but I dont see so well anymore:D) wondered if anyone did hear if it was actually deflected a little, it did look like it did have some awkward spin. Really nice team with a bright future, by far best game of the 1st round.

were a few more there. This young mans stock went up faster than a barrel of

While Lex Cath might be the worst hitting team at the state tourny, you had to admire the performance of the lefty given the stage, heat, situations he was in.
