Assuming that a politically moderate politician agrees with most of the positions of the middle one-third of American voters (with one-third being more liberal and one-third being more conservative), where would you place Barack Obama on the political spectrum, based on his voting record and his stated campaign positions?

OK, I will go first. IMO, Sen. Obama will be the most liberal candidate ever nominated as a presidential candidate by either major political party. Obama's church, voting record, and choice of friends and allies are all indicative of his extreme left wing view of the world.

How about judging a canidate on the issues instead of things like churches and friends. Most liberal canidate ever nominated? How about McGovern, Kerry, Mondale, Dukakis. Granted, he is a bit liberal but not the most liberal canidate ever nominated.

Do you not agree that a candidate's voting record is reflective of his positions on the issues? Obama has a very liberal voting record both in the Illinois Senate and in the US Senate. I was a little young when McGovern ran for president but I would love to see some evidence that any of the candidates that you name have a more liberal record than Obama.

Voting record yes but churches belonged to and friends family come on now. If I ran for president and you looked at my church I would be the most conservative canidate alive, I really hope no one looks at my friends. Was you to young to remember John Kerry, jk :p? John Kerry was more liberal imo and I think he will be a much better canidate, it shouldn't take much!

People do not choose the family into which they are born - and I never mentioned Obama's family, BTW, but they do choose their friends, associates, and churches. Obama chose a church with an extremely liberal, racist political agenda and has attended sermons there for 20 years. Obama sought out and willingly accepted the support of unrepentant terrorists William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

The choices one makes in friends, associates, churches, and social organization makes a statement about one's judgment and character. Whether you think it is right or not, Obama's choices will swing many voters this fall toward McCain.

You didn't have Ultra-Liberal listed, so I had to go with just Liberal.

If Obama is an ultra liberal, where do you place Dennis Kucinich, Barbra Boxer, Michael Moore and others that make Obama look conservative?

I place Dennis Kucinich and Boxer to Obama's right. I believe Moore is simply a pseudo-Socialist greedy pig who would do or say anything to make a buck. The only thing anybody can say for sure about where Michael Moore stands is that the floor is sturdy.

 Most of my friends are very conservative, ultra conservative, HB20 knows how conservative some of my friends are ask him, so am I a staunch conservative? I attend a conservative Southern Baptist chuch, so am I a very conservative person? I went to a private christian college which happens to be a very conservative school, does that make me a conservative? I am from an area that is extremly conservative, 80% republican, does that make me ultra conservative? I have friends that are arabic, does that make me a muslum? Your theroy is flawed but you are right about one thing a lot simple minded people are blinded by friends, churches and social organizations.

I could not agree more about Michael Moore! So what does that make Boxer and Kucinich in your opinion, double ultra liberals?

I have to admit, I was impressed by those odds that you posted on McCain's prospective running mates. I had to Google one or two of people you listed to refresh my memory. I did not even realize Phil Gramm was still alive. So, I have no reason to question your conservative credentials. BTW, did you contact that guy who posted your list on his website? I am looking forward to your updates to the list. :thumb:
