Changeup, do you know if Thursday is going to count as a day of rest. I was just wondering because I know the rain out days do not but I dont know if they decided anything about the Thursday they have off. It doesnt make much since to me not to count the rain out days but to count this Thursday??

Rule 13

Nichols went 5 innings if I am correct which would require 2 days of rest. Not eligible until championship game.

1-2 innings = no rest

3-5 = 1 day rest

6 = 2 days rest

7 = 3 days rest

No. 5 innings only requires one day of rest.

Actually none of these pitchers are eligible to pitch tommorrow. The coaches agreed before the tournament started that if there was a rain out day that it would not count as a day of rest.

Based on what statman was told by the Ryle AD, the rain out does count as a day of rest since all teams were affected equally. The agreement stated that it would not count as a rest day if only some games were played yesterday. So Nichols is eligible, as would be Krohman and Houlehan.

Look at StatMan's post number 2 above. The only pitcher's not eligible tomorrow, including Nichols, Krohman, and Houlehan are, I believe Niehaus and Connor (NewCath). I am not sure if Connor pitched into the 6th or not, so he may be OK too. Since all the first round games got played on Monday the gentlemen's agreement made by the coaches re resting pitchers for everyone as if they pitched the day of the last first round game played is off.

Thanks statman for posting this. I received the call immediately after the decision was made but since there is no wi-fi on stadium grounds I could not post it so thanks again.

But the free day of rest is going to make it interesting no doubt.

I was standing next to the Freedom front office people and once the decision was made, I went up to the pressbox and posted it. That's also when I talked to the Ryle AD about the pitching issues people on here were specualting about.

If Nichols can pitch than I'd say Dixie.

How many innings would anyone expect Nichols to throw after just 1 days rest?

Depends on pitch count, but if correct that he only threw 60-70 pitches on Monday afternoon (per TOG), I wouldn't be surprised to see him go 5 innings tonight and, if his pitch count is really low, maybe more. CCH would be wise to be patient and work him deep into counts whenever possible.

They will need to battle him like they battled Cody and make him throw a lot of pitches, but in saying that, Matt is a much stronger pitcher than Coday is. Matt is a pitcher, Cody is a outstanding outfielder with a great arm, Iwho pitches from time to time, IMO big difference...

Remember Coop, I said "I think" it was around 60-70 pitches ...

Connor pitched all 7 innings against Lloyd which would only make him eligible to come back on Friday and not for tonight's game.

Best of luck to all the teams tonight.
