Those who deny evolution in total have absolutely no credibility. It's like saying, "I don't believe in gravity ." These are the same people that are willing to believe there is a man somewhere in the sky talking notes on who we sleep with, not to mention fairies flying around watching over us. Oh, and while 99% of sane individuals agree that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old, the tiny percentage who resist any urge to have a rational thought actually believe the Earth is only a few thousand years old... Incredulous!!!

They follow, like mindless automatons, lunatics whose agenda is to wipe religion from the face of the Earth, screaming "prove God," "prove God," only to be silenced in fits of rage when the response is "disprove Him." I feel sorry for them.

How come anyone who posts opposite to your beliefs has no credibility? You enjoy discrediting anyone on the other side of the political spectrum and say they are religious zealots. You strive so hard for political incorrectness, that whatever people on this site say, you say that opposite, tell them that they are stupid, and that 99% of Americans disagree with them, and would agree with you that those conservatives are ignorant.

 

I look at a lot of policies from the Left and disagree vehemently on the grounds that many programs are backed up by no economic theory and are harmful to the economy, and hurt those who they meant to help. Do I completely ignore everything that they have to say, and lump them into a category of stereotypes? No. If so, I wouldn't read a post that TB&G, rockmom, MoreheadEagle, or any of the other liberals on this site post, many of which are filled with intriguing arguments.

 

Your posts, however, do one of three things: A) Compare whoever we are talking to to Bush and say that he is worse. B) Claim anyone who believes in God (especially Christians) are all the same and the world disagrees and looks down on them or C) Says that the poster opposite of you has no credibility and is blinded by religion.

 

I won't jump to take your credibility away- but when all of your posts simply attack others, and you'd rather bash conservatives and Bush then have a political discussion filled with facts, theory, and actual formulated arguments, then I struggle to restrain myself.

I'm not talking about restraining myself from getting angry. No matter how angry your posts get, I will not lower myself to the level of calling someone else a fool because they believe in God. What I am restraining myself from is allowing no credibility to your posts. I don't know you, but I can assume that you are intelligent and that it would be unwise of me to allow you no credibility.

 

I believe that God created the Earth and everything in it. I am also inclined to believe in the theory of evolution, although I do concede that their are some holes in the theory. I can't say for sure one way or the other, but I believe that God could create the world through evolution

You are probably right, I probably let some things slide for those on my side of the political spectrum.

 

I feel like P&R, for the past 4-6 weeks, hasn't been the same. I feel like the arguments aren't as rich any more, I guess from both sides. We've been reduced to ad hominem attacks rather than on the issues. I don't know who's fault it is. Even if there are more conservatives than liberals on this site, I still won't retract what I said in posts 52 and 54, but I will try and look out for it from both sides, and especially from me.:thumb:

A very prolific former poster(and a moderate-minded sort of gent) on this site messaged me the other day, commending me on my efforts to try to engage and enlighten the "mental midgets" on the subject of gay rights and homophobia. He said, that like he, I would eventually tire of the effort , and give up. It is not my goal to change anyone's mind or make them less hateful, but just to express an opinion.Intellectual debate is great and I can do it with the best of them. But it is not possible with folk who deny everything scientifically factual. Intellectual debate and rational discourse is sometimes tiresome and fruitless. I do appreciate you reading the posts.
