I can help you if you want "Yea Alabama". Thats the only one I ever use. Go to the carrier's website.

For those who use the mp3 to ring tone converters: Are you charged internet usage fees if you convert the ring tone on your computer then send it to your phone through a USB cable ?

 

I'm really interested in using one of the MP3 to ring tone converters, but my internet usage fees on my phone are through the roof, so I'm trying to avoid that.

 

Any help would be appreciated.

Bluetooth with your buddies, its free and you can get a ton of them that way.

If you use a usb cord to transfer ringtones, pictures or other files from your computer to your phone it is free. That is why I do it that way.

 

If I take a picture with my phone and want to send it to someone. I just tranfer the picture to my computer and send it in a regular email.

I sometimes get one that way. I favor making my own and saving them on my computer. I have 30 ringtones saved 29 I made myself.

If you were talking to me, yes. It is much faster to tranfer ringtones with the usb cord because I can transfer several files at once. Another benefit of using the usb cord is, at least with my phone, it also charges your batter while hooked to the computer.

I actually use two free programs. One I had for several years. It is called Audacity. I first got it when I was making music cd's for the Madison Central boys basketball team. With it you can cut and splice songs with inapropriate parts.

 

The one draw back is it only saves the files in wav. format. So I found this other free program. It is called Switch. It converts the files into the mp3. format.

I forgot to add this. I went to the phone manufacturer's site and downloaded a program to transfer the files to my phone. I've done this both for my phone and my wife's. We have two different type phones and both programs were free.

 

If I already have the song on my computer, I can have a ringtone made in about 3 minutes.

Does this program let you pick what part of the song you want?

Hey statman, I downloaded that program. I like that you can change the volume of the ringtone. Do you just keep shortening the song until you get it the way you want it?

 

With the program I use it shows the song in a wave line form. This way I can change the view to see, or listen, to a part of the song down to 1 sec increments.

Alright, my phone plays mp3 files. All the music on my computer is in mp3 format. Wouldn't it be easiest for me to just find a program that will let me edit the mp3 file into a certain length and then just send it to my phone using a usb cord and set it as my ring tone that way ?

 

Anyone know of any good free software that would allow me to take a full size mp3 and convert it to only a selected section of the song ?
