May 8, 200818 yr Do your parents claim you on their taxes? If so, they should be getting $300 for you. At least that's the way I understand it. They do claim me still. However, they dont get the extra $300 for claiming me.

For rebate purposes, a qualifying child is one who is younger than 17. That means that taxpayers who claim an older college student as a dependent won't get the extra money. Neither will college kids themselves be happy. The rebate bill specifically makes dependents, or even those who could be claimed as a dependent, ineligible for the rebate. So students who can be claimed by parents won't get rebates even if they held jobs outside class that otherwise would have qualified them for the money. "The kid may have $3,000 in income, but his parents are paying much more for his college expenses so he's a dependent," says Bob D. Scharin, RIA senior tax analyst form Thomson Tax & Accounting. "It does seem unfair that the child can't claim the rebate."
May 8, 200818 yr In "protest" to the economic stimulus package, I will be spending my rebate in the one way it was definitely not intended. This summer I will be stimulating the British and Irish economies when I travel across the pond for my sister-in-law's wedding!! Flying on an American airlines company?
May 10, 200818 yr Flying on an American airlines company? The flight will be on Virgin Atlantic (England).... however, the flight was not booked with any specific country's economy in mind. It was booked looking out for my own personal economy (i.e. cheapest option).

May 10, 200818 yr Got my tax stimulus check yesterday. Decided that Aztar needed some stimulation. Within 20 minutes I was up $700 on $1 slots. :dancingpa Cashed out and looks like I will get to stimulate somebody else.
