Talking to a friend of mine who is originally from NKY and has lived and worked in Campsbellville for the past 30 years and he is convinced this is the year that C-ville goes deep into the playoffs with a possible run at the big prize. Of course he tells me that every year but he almost has me convinced for this upcoming season but as I told him the Class A Title runs thru Beechwood and until they can beat them it is all just talk.. I agree that Beechwood and LCA should be one and two, which position is negotiable. And I think Hazard, Raceland, and Campbellsville are three-five, the order is up for opinion. So, there are your top five.

 

Mayfield and Frankfort, I expect to do well, I just don't know how well.

 

I admittedly do not know enough about what is returning for Louisville Holy Cross and Williamsburg. But, I will take your word for it.

 

Pikeville, I really have concerns about. They lost quite a bit to graduation, and have a new coach. I normally do not expect to much from teams with new coaches, it normally takes two years for a new coach to do well. Pikeville may surprise me.

 

Fulton City should be good, and I almost put them at number nine in my original ranking, but I am not sure yet.

I totally agree with what you're saying about Pikeville, that may just be a flyer. I honestly don't know enough about football out west in Fulton City, but you may be right. Either way, in my opinion, A football is my favorite to watch, and this year should be no exception. I love watching a small town take pride in something that is truly "theirs."

I agree, I have always liked watching 1A football more then any other level. After graduating high school, and before I had children, I would go to what I thought would be the best game in the area, no matter the level. After doing that for a while, I determined that just liked watching 1A better. And, I have to say I think there are going to be more strong 1A teams from the Eastern side of the bracket then we have seen in a while.

Strongly agree. Eastern side (if you include C-ville, even though it is South Central KY) is the better bracket. Maybe somebody out of there can upset the rule of Beechwood.

Williamsburg played a lot of younger kids on the DL last season in order to try to keep the OL healthy...they will be in good enough shape to rotate in and boost a DL with some very strong solid players at the tackle and nose positions. I look for the DE's to have a good amount of speed as well. They should be fine in the trenches. The DB's were also very young last year; they will be young this year but will have more experience. They SHOULD be improved defensively...time will tell if they are contenders or pretenders.

Time will definately tell that the Jackets are PRETENDERS this year.

Wburg returns 9 starters on offense and 9 on defense. Cville returns several starters while graduating Bridgewater. LC returns some very good skill players and what Coach Mitchell says could be the best line he has had in 30 years. Could this be Coach Mitchells 1st ever outrite district championship. Will Cvilles athletes prevail or will the passing attack of Wburg come through. Could Clinton upset 1 of the 3 to put a twist in things. Cville has added a nice twist to the district. Wburg has won 4 of last 5 over LC. LC has Coach Mitchell.

I'm sure this will stir up a hornet's nest, but I think Campbellsville can beat Raceland. Lex Christian may be another matter all together.

Campbellsville has a rough road schedule, but I look for them to make a great run! But honestly, I'm extremely biased. I'm not there now, but my heart still belongs to the purple and gold! Go EAGLES!!!

 

I have no problem with it. I started this thread as an opinion thread. That is your opinion. I honestly know very little to nothing about the teams in this distrct other than I had heard that C-Ville would be very good and was just wanting some info. :thumb:

Raceland and LCA should be very good in our district. Hazard should be a team to beat as well in theirs and I don't think that anyone could ever count Pikeville out of a region.

 

I am like everyone else in that I am looking foward to some good ol' "slobberknocker" hits and High School Football Frida Nights!
