We need to develop our own sources of oil. The bottom line in my albeit childish mind is that if there was a feasable alternative to oil it would have been developed. And if you can afford a Yucon and filling it with gas then so be it.

I think things have been developed over the years to improve mileage and the auto makers and oil companies have bought the patents up before anything is done to market it.The public never hears about it.

The "spiritual mentor" description came from Obama himself - it is not my characterization. If I had a "spiritual mentor," I assume that I would accept most of his views, otherwise why would I refer to him as my "mentor?" To my knowledge, I have no racist associates or friends. If after 20 years, Obama did not recognize Rev. Wright as a racist, then he lacks the kind of judgment that I want in my president. If he realized Rev. Wright was a racist and attended his church for 20 years anyway then he is a liar and I feel justified in drawing a conclusion from the long, close, and voluntary association between the two men.

OPEC will raise the price of gas over the summer like they always do regardless of a tax break or not.

If Federal and State both suspended taxes on gas then you would see some difference.

 

So what does Obama propose to be done? Something that will take 50 years and 50 billion dollars at tax payers expense to develop?

 

I think we need to face it, there is no real quick problem solver here with this. It is a fact of life.

His personal views and teachings of the bible are night and day. I do not accept my all of my pastor's personal views, however, I do accept the words and teaching from the bible. GOD'S words in print. We agree to disagree.

OPEC does not raise prices directly. They only do so by cutting production which they would be insane to do right now. They may in the winter but they won't soon.

 

Our GOVT won't intervene because they want 5-6 dollar gas. They want the gas guzzlers off the street. They are going to break our wasteful habits. We are being disicplined and nobody likes that but it's not going to change. They want us off oil and there is no quick fix. It is already working. US demand is down and will continue to go down.

I heard him say that if the price was lower than the $ savings would be significant. At the price gas is, the savings for families is not significant to help. I think he said it would be like $28 per family per month. Not sure how he got that number.

Obama's math does not add up. Apparently his numbers are based on an average gas consumption of about 1-2/3 gallons per day for 90 days. ($0.30/0.18)

Suspending the gas tax is certainly not a cure, I for one do appreciate anything that will help (if this will help) if even foir a while. Maybe this would help consumers for a while and then more work is certainly needed to lower the prices on a permanent basis.

One thing that does crack me up is all of a sudden this is Clinton's idea :lol:. Seems to me that McCain came up with this first but now all of a sudden when some like it and it is being talked about Hillary claims the idea in a desperate attempt to hang on to what little is left of her campaign.

 

JMO but one major move that would bring gas prices waaaaay down is to start drilling Alaska and other areas that all of the "green goons" as I call them like Al Gore and most members of congress are against and have blocked over and over. I am all for preserving areas like this as well but our nation imo is in a severe crisis with our dependency on foriegn oil. This would cut that factor down considerably I believe. I just amazes me that this country has plenty of oil sitting under it an yet due to OUR lawmakers we are not allowed to drill it in fear of offending some gobal warming idiots.

Also, these areas are not just left barren when this is done. The land is reclaimed and built back up to where it would go back to being the beautiful area that it was found.

This is typical for Obama. He seems to have a knack for "Slippery Oratory". If you look at what he now says he supports and how he voted on things that pertain to the same matter, you will find many cases like the one you referred to, especially when it comes to gun control laws.

Obama, Kerry, and Gore are among the most liberal members of the Democratic Party who could not possibly get elected running on their voting records. So, once they are finished pandering to the left to get the nomination, they (with the media's help) set out to convice us to ignore their records and accept them as political moderates.
