April 28, 200818 yr I think we all agree that in cases where children are being abused that the they should be removed from their homes. However, did the government have proof that all 400 children were being abused? Simply...no. These children should never have been take and the fact that they are still away from home is sad. Let's imagine ourselves in a similar situation. I call is made that someone in your neighborhood is abusing a child. Details are sketchy. The call may have been made by the child. Should the police come in and remove every child in your neighborhood because they can't find the kid with the correct name? This is a VERY scary thought to me.

Ya but if the Police come to the neighborhood while all the children are outside and knock on your door and say "could you please come identify your child, if you do and your child wasn't the one in the tip you both are free to go, sorry for the inconvenience" to which you respond "I don't know which one is my child" or "I don't have to tell you anything" then the police have the authority to take the unclaimed children in. Thats basically what happened the people in this compound wouldn't claim their children as their specifically so the police took them. No one wants to blame the parents here, so I'll harp on it again. If they would have just given some minimal cooperation then most of the children would have been able to stay. The only ones that would have had to leave were the ones under 18 who had had brothers or sisters that had been sexually abused that were under the age of 18.

I sincerely doubt that all of the parents denied the 400 children. If that is the case, why did they let some of the "mothers" go with the children? If they weren't certain that they were their mothers, why let random women accompany someone else's children?

They kept changing their story, the mothers that accompanied them if I remember correctly too were the ones that were nursing children.
April 28, 200818 yr Do you believe that everybody who was taken into custody was a criminal - all 600+ of them? The warrant was issued on the testimony of Child Protective Services, who testified that she received a call from a young woman who claimed to be "Sarah Barlow." The problem is that no such woman was found on the compound. Subsequently, police have reportedly arrested a woman with a history of making false reports who allegedly made the call posing as Sarah Barlow. Even if Texas authorities had some evidence of wrongdoing at the ranch, it appears that many innocent people have already been treated as if they were guilty at least in part because of a hoax. I believe all 600+ of them are suspects so IMO yes they should have been taken into custody. Until the mess is cleared up - to err on the side of protecting the children is ok with me.
April 28, 200818 yr I agree there are probably some stuff that has happened is wrong. But you don't go and cause the biggest child placement known to man. I will have to go read updates, about underage preg. girls, because what I have read says "authorities suspect"... that is not proof. I don't diss what the detractors have said, but also know if someone gets excomunicated or whatever will always comeback to exagerate circumstances. So once again their word against someone elses. I personally would not live in a compound, and not dress like the people did in the 1800s, but acts like this from government opens up religious persecution, and that is scary too. -and- I too like another person said on here, I am staying open minded, and have been from the beginning of this story... I was uneasy when I heard it... Anyone there that has abused children should be taken care of, the rest are victims of the circumstance. I really think they didn't want this people in their town/state.... Neither would I.

April 28, 200818 yr They kept changing their story, the mothers that accompanied them if I remember correctly too were the ones that were nursing children. Really? They take the children away from these suspected "abusers" but still allow them to nurse the children? Interesting.
April 28, 200818 yr Neither would I. If they have done nothing wrong, why would you feel that way? Remember all is allegation right now- allegations all the way up to their leader Jeff Warrens.
April 28, 200818 yr Author State Rep. Harvey Hilderbran, R-Kerrville whose district includes Eldorado, speculated that law enforcement and CPS probably had a loose plan in place. Hilderbran remembers talking to CPS officials about the ranch in 2005, when he worked to pass a bill targeted at the sect that raised the legal marriage age with parental consent from 14 to 16. The bill passed. The FLDS moved to Eldorado in 2004. So technically, only those marriages of girls under 16 after the law changed would have been illegal.
April 28, 200818 yr Really? They take the children away from these suspected "abusers" but still allow them to nurse the children? Interesting. I believe most of the abuse was accused against the fathers as well. The mothers probably knew but the men were the ones doing the abusing.
April 28, 200818 yr Author I believe most of the abuse was accused against the fathers as well. The mothers probably knew but the men were the ones doing the abusing. What abuse has been substantiated?
April 28, 200818 yr What abuse has been substantiated? They have several girls under the age of 18 pregnant and several more that have already had children between the ages of 13-16.
April 28, 200818 yr Author They have several girls under the age of 18 pregnant and several more that have already had children between the ages of 13-16. Is CPS removing all girls under the age of 18 who are pregnant in Texas? Several girls out of a population of over 10,000 doesn't sound too unusual.
April 28, 200818 yr They have several girls under the age of 18 pregnant and several more that have already had children between the ages of 13-16. Last time I read this was an alleged accusation, 13 year olds having babies. That is what is confusing a lot of people. They (the authorities) suspect, there is no actual proof as of yet. Just like the phone call that started this.... but it turns out to be a prank call. A lady 33 years old pranked called, becasue she is obsessed with the FLDS. The guy mentioned as the rapist lives in Arizona and has proof that he has not been in Texas for over 20 years. Of course they are going to keep these kids seperated, etc... they have already botched this thing very badly. This opens the doors for government agencies to take out groups of people based on "they don't like the way you look or what you believe".... At this point there is no real proof. It's all accusations.
