April 25, 200818 yr There is a difference between just playing fast and the things Yngwie Malmsteen does. Some of the best stuff I have heard Malmsteen do is more blues then just fast metal. Dude is unbelievable with a guitar in his hands.

April 26, 200818 yr Agreed. He is very very innovative. Its definitely hard to pick up and play his stuff. Speaking of innovators, Edward Van Halen is the frontrunner IMO. Although he's not considered a modern guitarist, he's incorperated many of techniques in his music that have far and away influenced today's blooming guitarists. His methods of taking the art of tapping to another level and his wide vibrato while doing large divebomb/harmonic whammy bar antics, are unparalleled.
