August 15, 200818 yr I love seeing KY talent do well on a national level. 4th or 5th string is doing well?
August 15, 200818 yr Unfortunate for the young man. Does he have a redshirt year? Already used in Fall, 2005.
August 15, 200818 yr This is what has appeared to have happened. Justin Burke goes to NC State to play for Coach Chuck Amato in 2005. Coach Amato loses his job and Tom O'Brien from Boston College takes over the head coaching position at NC State. Tom O'Brien and his offensive coordinator, Dana Bible, successfully recruit Mike Glennon as a quarterback prospect from the state of Virginia. Both these coaches see Glennon as a very similar type player physically and in ability to a quarterback who played for them at Boston College, Matt Ryan. This is the same Matt Ryan who was just the first pick in the NFL draft and signed with the Atlanta Falcons for nearly 66 million dollars. Daniel Evans returns as the starting quarterback and Mike Glennon is immediately put into the mix as a true freshman, and both Justin Burke and highly touted transfer Harrison Beck seem to be the odd men out. This happens very often in major college football and it is not necessarily a reflection, in this case, of Justin Burke's performance at quarterback at NC State. There was a change in staff and they successfully recruited over the top of him. Hang in there, Justin.
August 18, 200818 yr Lexington WLEX-TV reported last night that they have received word from Raleigh that Justin Burke did not show up for the team picture over the weekend. If Justin were to transfer, I wonder if it would be to a D-II school where he would have immediate eligibility. He redshirted in 2006 at NC State so if he transferred to a D-I school he would have to sit a year and would have two years of eligibility. I feel for this kid right now because he seems to be a coaching change casualty and the NCAA rules for transfers are not favorable to his situation. http://www.newsobserver.com/sports/story/1181198.html Edited August 18, 200818 yr by strongopenyon
