Dixie 2 Bellevue 1

Featured Replies

Does anybody know anything about this game?

Koors started for Dixie went 4 innings gave up one run on two hits. Nichols closed out the other three innings. Dixie scored their first run on a Matt Nichols homer in the first and their second when a hitter reached on an error and scored on a double by Popham. Piper went the distance for Bellevue allowing only the two hits. Bellevue socred on a squeeze in the third inning.

This is impressive for the Tigers to compete with the larger school Colonels. Sounds like Piper has a nice arm and the Tigers are playing some fundamentally sound baseball.

I don't know much about this Piper kid, does anyone have more info on him? FWIW I was not at the game.

Dixie's offense needs to come to life if they expect to make any kind of run in the tournament.

Piper is a good pitcher he gets the ball over the plate and has some junk pitches to go along with it.

Wow this score is surprising that it was this close.

How many dingers is that for Nichols on the season?

Coach Sanders has the Tigers headed in the right direction .Keep up the great work .

This seems to be a common issue with the Colonels over the years. They usually have at least one stud pitcher with a solid 2 and 3, and a fairly solid defense. The sticks haven't been the strong point in years it seems like.

Tony "Pipes" Piper...former Muddog, City Champs Class B. A real battler on the mound. Sneaky fast with a sparkling array of off speed pitches. When he's locating, he can have hitters talking to themselves (on the way back to the dugout!). Nice outing, Pipes!

Thanks DMZ. As I said I haven't heard of him but best of luck to him in his high school and hopefully college years.

Being part of the Dixie program for four years as a player and still being around the team when I get the time I know exactly what you are talking about. My junior year it was Strong and Nichols on the mound with a good defense but no offense. Last year (my senior year) it was Nichols with a good array of other starters and relievers with a pretty good defense but still minimal offense. This year it seems to be the same thing. I'm not really sure what the problem is as I know Maxwell does everything he can to prepare the team for live pitching. Hopefully they will figure it out.

Hey Bulldog is Tony a soph. or Jr. I know he is about 30 yrs. old because he has been in a Tiger uniform since he was very young. lol. Maybe sixth grade? And Varsity Player at eight grade?
