April 14, 200818 yr The Bible mentions these beings several times and even by name. What are your thought on Angels? Do they protect us? Do we each have our own? How did they come about? born/created Can they use human forms? What do they look like?...wings/halos? Satan was one what happened and could it happen again? How can I become one? Or do I become one? Is there sexs/unisex? I've had three near deaths experinces, I know I should have died and my wife two weeks ago had one...How come I didn't die?

I am not knocking your experiences or how you wish to interpret them Larry but the reverse logic is made as well. If a "guardian angel" protected you, what happened to the guardian angel for the other guy? Do they fall asleep when one dies and others walk away? Are they not paying close enough attention on some? I know you get my drift on that. My understanding of the role of angels is that they are messengers of God. (I don't see them as protectors of chosen people) Another problem I have with Angelology is that some people focus solely on the angels ("Highway to Heaven" and "Touched by an Angel") and yet they won't make the next and more important step, focus on God. There are many people who have no problem with angels but seem to steer totally away from their Creator and Sender. IMHO, too often credit is laid on the being called angels and not on the feet of God. (I am not speaking of you Larry or anyone on here but in the world I've travelled I've seen a lot of people who will behave this way.)

These are excellent questions... we must examine the facts (truths what the Bible actually says) and try to stay away from myths. Let us take it question by question ( I have found this is the best way). I will come back tonight with some information, I should be on around 7:30 EST

(I am not speaking of you Larry or anyone on here but in the world I've travelled I've seen a lot of people who will behave this way.) :thumb: At it's simplest, I view angels as servants of God...nothing more, nothing less. Are they powerful? Some of the examples in the Bible would suggest that, at the lest, some of them are very powerful...at least from our perspective. Does God need angels to do tasks for Him? No. But, he has chosen to make them a part of His creation and to use them for certain things. There are definitely some passages in the Bible that shed some knowledge on angels, but there is far more left unknown. Could God's intention have been to limit our knowledge so people wouldn't erroneously focus too much on the angels themselves? I agree with the point you make about angels getting too much emphasis at times... Angels and demons are fascinating subjects...but we have a limited amount of information about them. There are numerous examples of angels taking on a human appearance in the Bible, so I would say the answer to that one is a yes.
April 14, 200818 yr Are cherubim and seraphim angels...classes of angels...or are they something different, separate from angels?
April 14, 200818 yr About the only thing I understand about angels is that humans DO NOT become angels when they die.
April 14, 200818 yr Author Y'all made some nice points, I can't reply to Hatz's questions and I agree with some of the statements. I'm reading some material on this subject, but wanted some imput. Why someone dies and another lives is something I've wondered about... But as a five year old in northern Alabama at a lake with lots of family members I walked out too far and stepped into a hole and lost my balance. I was under and remember the water as I was looking up and wanting to breathe. My 12 year old Aunt saw that I was gone and swam to me and saved me. My dad was watching water skiers, and was still watching them as I came to. The Aunt...what if she had stayed home that day? What if her head was turned away? What if ? I believe something brought her with us, and had her ready when I needed her. Look in the paper and you will see many people younger than you that passes away due to illnesss/accident. I don't know the answer, but I know for sure something was watching over me, and my other near death is worse than this one I shared. Momma's accident...You cannot tell me it wasn't an Angel thing...But thats why I brought it up.
April 14, 200818 yr I accidently hit enter saying all of that here is the verses in the Bible: Ps 34 Acts 6:15, 2 Cor 11:14, Gal 1:8, Ps 91:11 Mt 18:10 Mt. 25:41, LK 20:36, 1 Cor 6:3 Heb 1:4, Heb 1:14 Heb 2:7 Heb 13:2 1 Pe 1:12, 2 Pe 2:4. Now, how do we want to proceed, do we go verse by verse listed, and talk about it and along with the context. I personally like this idea, but I want to here from others

April 15, 200818 yr Ok, then here we go! I really want to start in Heb, I have no idea why, just felt lead to do so. First, the book of Hebrews: it is a book that basically affarms (sp) Jesus as being over all things. The first verse we come to is in verse 4 "So he became as much superior to the angels as the name as the name he has inherited is superior" This says to me, basically the name of Jesus is greater than all of the angels. So we do know there are Angels and Jesus is above them all. Then in verse 6 it talks about Jesus being born and that God's angels worship him. That is pretty self explaintory. \ Here is a verse though, I need help interpreting verse 7"In speaking of Angels he says "he makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire", it references Ps 104:4? I have no clue what this mean? Verse 14 Here we come to a job description "are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation" What do you think this means? Hebrews 13:2 "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it" Well if we go back to verse one, the writer is speaking of loving a brother, I think the writer is just given illustration, when we help others(strangers), we really could be helping ourselves. Just an idea what do you believe? I have gave you enough bread to digest, I look forward to seeing the responses!
April 15, 200818 yr Ok, so I can not help myself let us keep in the New Testiment and look at 1 Cor chapter 6 verse 3: "Do you not know that we will judge angels". Chapter 6 verses 1-11 is talking about lawsuits, it is my opinion that Paul is trying to get to the point, that there should be peace between brother to brother, and was using an hypothetical question to get his point across. What do you think?
April 15, 200818 yr Last book for this evening, which means we have covered 3!!! 2 Corinthians 11:14 "And no wonder, for Satan himslef masquerades as an Angel of Light" Paul in chapter 11 is giving warning of false prophets, and here it seems to suggest that Satan will look as he his doing good, but reality is a whole other thing. What do you think? What do we get to know out of angel here, to me it is simple angel's do good!
