Is the West Jessamine scrimmage on Friday night? 6, 7, or 7:30?

I thought it looked like Garrard had alot of talent. I guess it is just what expecations you or they set for themselves.

 

Garrard does have some talent this year. My biggest concern is quarterback. They have three kids making a run at the job, but none of them have had any snaps to speak of at the varsity level (one is a freshman, in fact). The backfield and receivers are very solid and the line is okay. If the QB situation gets solved, Garrard could be a good offensive squad.

I think maybe 7 or so. I honestly can't remember. So many "non-football" things happened with Garrard football last year; it was pretty forgettable.

Yes, Mark Scenters is the new coach, replacing Steve Stonebraker who was at Garrard for seven years. He is originally from Berea and played at Madison Southern. He's been an assistant coach at Madison Central for a few years (not sure how many). His name has came up for several openings in the last couple years, including Madison Southern this offseason, before being named the coach at Garrard County in April.

Will their defense be any better this season? They had a couple of nice looking offensive players last season but they really struggled on the defensive side of the ball. I'm not sure that 8 returning starters is a good thing, they looked really slow and tentative.

I have no idea about the defense. It seems like they've been "slow and tentative" on that side of the ball for several years now. I'm not sure if the kids didn't really know how to play their positions or lacked the instincts to be successful. Certainly a new coach and new scheme could make a difference, but we'll have to wait and see.

Alot the the players on defense were very young. Its a major adjustment from middle school to high school. Some players also converted positions Ex( linebacker to defensive end). With experience under their belt this year should be different.
