I thinks Cassity would make a good coach for Russell

and if some girls transfer well so be it. I beleive if some parents would just

let their kids play sports and not take it so seriously and transfer them

everytime something don't go their way that the kids would get more out

of the game and life in general.

But anyway if Cassity gets the job Congrats!!!!!!!!

I respect your opinion. But i just had it cinfirm (either a policy change or something) an administrator has been approved to be a coach at Russell.

I just saw where there are 2 middle school Social Studies positions now open at Russell Middle School on the state job posting website, could Merle's good friend Coach Sutton from GC be sliding into one of those positions in order to join him on the Red Devil sidelines??????

My personal thoughts on the new coaches...

 

Merle:

He is great with kids, good with parents and can teach the game. Discipline to learn his system will come easy because these kids will be having fun for a change.

 

Phillip:

WOW! He was an outstanding shooter when he played. He knows the game and will get the most out of the Lady Devils. Merle has led the Lady Devils in the right direction now Phillip will continue to improve these girls.

 

I really feel as stated in an earlier post that this has been one of the best moves from Red Devil Lane in years.

 

Lets just remember that it is not so much about winning with these kids as it is teaching and learning. The wins will come in a couple of years.

So you are saying these hires are official?

So when did this become official? Also, wouldn't Merle Kidwell have to be ANNOUNCED as the boys coach, to open up the girls coaching job, which would then have to be posted, etc??? Your all's speculation may come to fruition, but until things are official, I wouldn't say they were set in stone. Just remember, some people were claiming Steve Dodd was basically a guarantee for the Greenup job.

There is only one left. These jobs were posted day before yesterday as 30 day posts and one person was told yesterday she has one of these jobs. So I'm not sure how that works ? Grover seems to have knowledge in that area , maybe he can tell us ??

I was just informed that interviews for boys job are next week, so that would mean girls is not even open yet.

When a teacher leaves (either retires, decides not to come back next year, or is let go), then by law, the school has to post the job for 30 days. However, many times a teacher in the school system who would like to transfer to a different school will ask for a transfer. It is then up to the superintendent and building principal to agree or say, "no thanks, we'll look at the applications".

 

In other words, if there were two social studies positions open at the middle school and one is already closed, it is more than likely that a teacher from another school at Russell will be transferring to that closed position.

News from Red Devil Lane...

 

Kidwell to the boys team with help from former Russell standout Sean Horne who played with Cassity for Ron Reed. Cassity will coach the girls. He was wing man for the Devils and had about 250 three point attempts his senior year, so look for the Lady Devils to play an up tempo game with the threes flying. I think you will see some new faces on the girls team this year.

 

I happen to know for a FACT that Russell has not even held interviews for their boys Head Coach position. Your "news" is inaccurate.

Who does the interviewing? AD? Principal? SBDM?
