April 23, 200818 yr Author Second round matchups: Eastern (1)Montreal vs (6)Philadelphia (2)Pittsburgh vs (5)New York Ranger Western (1)Detroit vs (6)Colorado (2)San Jose vs (5)Dallas Although DET swept COL this season, I feel good about how the Avs are playing right now. Also we without Joe Sakic, Ryan Smyth, and Paul Stastny for the games against the Wings, so I feel like they never saw us to our full potential during the regular season.
April 23, 200818 yr I don't care for how the West has shaken out at all. There are at least two eminently hateable teams in the semifinals (Detriot and Dallas). I don't think I have it in me to watch. That said, the East is looking interesting. That Atlantic Division is stacked, with three teams advancing to the semis (Philly, Pittsburgh and New York). The Flyers-Canadiens series should be hard-hitting and really fun to watch.
April 24, 200818 yr Author I am very excited for the conference semifinals to start tomorrow night!!!!
April 26, 200818 yr What a great game between Penguins and the Rangers! It definitely lived up to the hype! Pens take a 1 game lead in the series with a 5 to 4 come back win. :ylsuper:
April 26, 200818 yr You can't ask for much more out of a playoff. Four series going on, all of which had a first game decided by exactly one goal, two of them in overtime. This has been an outstanding playoffs and it looks like it's only going to get better.

April 27, 200818 yr After a shaky game one, Fleury comes out strong in game 2 and gets his second shutout of the playoffs... :flame:
April 28, 200818 yr Author Its tough to watch Detroit take it to Colorado like they did on Saturday afternoon. It just frustrates me that we have not had a healthy line-up yet this season when playing the Red Wings. During the regular season Col went 0-4 against Det. In those games we were without Joe Sakic, Ryan Smyth, and Paul Stastny. Then when it's all looking up for this series; Jose Theodore (who was our MVP against MIN) comes down with the flu, Peter Forsberg sits out with a sore groin, Scott Hannan sits out game 2, and Wojtek Wolski only plays 5 shifts in game 1 before being injured. Just bad luck I suppose. I dont want to make excuses for the Avalanche, but when you have a top goalie, forward, and defenseman out, life gets tough. a great game going on right now between the sharks and stars.

I did not know they had that many out. I turned on the game Saturday and it was already bad(I think 5-1, not sure). I would not mind seeing Detroit go down.

As for game 3: Jose Theodore will be ready to go.... however Peter Budaj may be given the start. Peter Forsberg is day to day Scott Hannan will likely play Wojtek Wolski will miss the rest of the series.

April 29, 200818 yr Author The Avs have their back up against the wall now... Yes they do. In 1999 the Avs came back from 0-2 against the Wings by winning 4 straight. I think they can pull it out IF Forsberg plays tonight, and Theodore is feeling/playing well. Also having Scott Hannan back on the blue-line will help as well.

It's important to win game 3 to have a chance. Now I hope to see the Penguins take game 3 tonight or at least split the 2 games in NY.
