I'm pro death penalty as long as the crime calls for it. Sorry to be so bleak, but some people deserve to die. Plain and simple.

 

I know I am taking the moral high ground but who are you to deserve to die?

 

I am only for the death penalty in a society that does not have the resources the protect society from the criminal. But we have the resources.

 

Furthermore, Timothy McVay could be in heaven someday. If he truly repents, and you believe in a forgiving God, then he could. Who am I to say if he deserves to live or die? I'd feel like Pontious Pilate- and as much as Pilate tried to believe it, he did not wash his hands of Jesus's blood.

You are right about it not being a very effective deterrent. When the death penalty was abolished a long time ago I don't believe there was any positive or negative effects on the crime rate.

 

The death penalty doesn't help lower the crime rate at all if I'm not mistaken.

I guess it's a matter of personal preferrence, but to me life without parole would be far, far worse than the death penalty.

It would not matter. I would rather be dead than spend life, or even years, in prison.

 

I'm claustophobic, homophobic, suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, and don't like daytime television.

If I'm in a maximum security prison with a bunch of animals, I want out as quickly as possible, innocent or not, in a body bag if need be.

The only 100% way is if they confess. 100% can be a thin line, depending on who is determining it.

 

I can't think of a point when it is necessary other than someone who manages to inflict harm and limit other's life and liberty, even when they are in maximum security and such.

Well we can be darn close to 100% sure with DNA evidence these days.

 

You can be 100% sure in more ways than just confessions. But even confessions sometimes aren't legit.

 

I'd much rather see the death penalty done away with than not at this point because it's too risky IMO. Let the prisoners serve their time...
