April 12, 200818 yr IMO, that is a very poor comparison. There are many instances shown in the bible where the Lord encourages ritcheous indignation. Killling the unborn is never compared to justice by death in the bible. There is a big difference between death as a penalty, and murdering the unborn. That is to say, the God had shown the death penalty to be a ritcheous punishment in many parts of the bible. If you only want to look at the OT, then sure... Look at what Jesus says about revenge in the NT, and the "righteous penalty" there... If we are going by the Code of Hammurabi still, seriously, how barbaric are we?
April 12, 200818 yr There are rapists, murderers, and child molesters in prison that are not on death row. They may be in for life with no parole or something like that... Are you saying all death row inmates are worse than all other inmates? I find that hard to believe. No not at all, the point I was making is that Lifers (those not on death row) are more dangerous in the prison enviroment because they have nothing to loose. Where as Deathrow inmates are closely controlled and have less opportunityto harm staff or other inmates.

But if one of your relatives murdered a different family, then would you support the death penalty? This is where I believe that your position is hypocritical. In post #38 you said I was being hypocritical. In the above post you used what I had said in post #40 to argue the point. What had I posted prior to post #38 that you think I am being a hypocrite about? I responded to the above post saying that I would never want one of my children executed but would understand those that did if they committed a heinous murder.

I was just saying if I was in support of the death penalty (which I am only for certain cases) than I would almost prefer the firing squad, although I have not given that much thought to it. Hey, I have the same position as you on this, even though by looking at our post it seems we are 180 degrees apart. I do not feel the death penalty is warranted in every murder case. As I said in an earlier post the criminal intent has a lot to do with it in my mind. I assume since you support it in some cases this is how you would determine who you feel deserves it and who doesn't.

I guess when I said your stance was hypocritical was how it would seem that you are playing God, saying that the unborn doesn't deserve to die, but the man who committed murder does deserve execution. The way I would decide who deserves it and who doesn't is if society can not protect itself from them, even through 24/7.
