I picked this article up from over at ITV:

It's a pretty good read and I'm really looking forward to watching him play. The multiple games he's played in the last few years are really going to help him out this year and one thing's for sure, this guy has a rocket.

He has bided his time and is a very capable quarterback.

What has to be concerning for UL fans is their defense. The new DC said it was a "pathetic" performance in their most recent scrimmage.

He will be excellent!

I'm extremely nervous about the defense this year. We lost quite a bit from an already bad defense last year. Some guys are going to really have to step up this year, and I'm also really hoping for some good performances out of the juco transfers.

It really can't get much worse than last year. Unless there is something ridiculous going on on the entire defensive coaching staff I don't expect anything but improvement, even if we were to start all freshmen. Maybe that's a little extreme, but I can't help but expect improvement.

Oh, and I can't wait to see Hunter start.

Granted the defense was bad last year, but I don't think they were as bad as some made them out to be. They had some good stretches during the year and they showed some potential but the problem was that they were prone to giving up the big play. Not to mention that the offense was a little out of sync last year. I think some UofL fans got spoiled pretty quick with our recent success and were used to them being able to out score their opponents so the flaws in our defense didn't stand out as much. I can't remember the last time we had a really good secondary, even with some of the studs we've had in the past years. The defensive coaching had been pretty bad for quite some time but I think English will change that pretty quick. I just don't think he has the players yet to do it.

But back to the topic at hand , I can't wait to see Hunter come out firing.

From my view, the expectations from UL fans may be a bit high for Cantwell.

I can't speak for others but I don't see that in my case. It's not like I expect him to be better than Brohm, but he has proven himself to be a winner multiple times as a starter, he had a year to adjust to Krag last year and from everything I've heard has has a better cannon than Brohm. I don't expect him to have a better game IQ than Brohm but he has everything going for him as a first year starter.

I don't see that at all. Maybe from Mel Kiper, but not Louisville fans.

Not many QBs in the nation have a better game IQ than Brohm. But I think Cantwell will be great for UofL this season.

Cantwell will do a good job for the Cards.

If I were a U of L fan, I'd be concerned about the defense until they proved otherwise in actual game play. I expect them to be much better than last year's abysmal showing, but as a fan, I'd be concerned until they showed it on the field.

The DC also made that pronouncement with three key starters sitting out this spring rehabbing. I think offense will clearly be the strength of this team, but the defense will be better than it looks right now.

Cantwell will certainly be a drop off from Brohm and they lose many studs for him to throw to. That is the main reason why I don't think he will be "all that" this year.

On the other hand, I think the running game will be better this season, and so far I've seen some good wide receivers- it's still the deepest position on the team.

Some have always been quick to say that every crop of Louisville stars was irreplaceable- ie Branch, Ragone, Russell, LeFors, McCune, Dumervil, Shelton. I'm not saying you're particularly driven by that line of thinking, but it's not like it hasn't come up before. Especially at offensive skills positions, Louisville has done an excellent job of handing off the torch.
