If im a coach i dont care what a kid says about staying in for 102 pitches in march, i am taking him out at 75 pitches. I know the kids want to win the game but you cant risk arm problems.

 

I would agree with this. A bulldog competitor like Nichols could be on his 200th pitch and would probably tell his coach he is fine and could go on. It's a coach's decision solely in this matter and asking a kid whose thrown his 100th pitch in cold March weather if he is fine is completely irrelevent. Pull him and see what else your pitching staff has to offer.

Dayton has been like that for years, nothing against there coaching staff but they need to work these boys really hard and atleast get there minds into the game. If the coaching staff is laid back, the kids are going to be the same. It will be another struggle for Dayton this year but if they get the right people in there and kids that care, they can improve alot in the next 10 years.

 

That's a big "if" there. I could actually see it going the other direction and their baseball program folding. They are having a hard time even getting enough kids to field a team, much less having the luxury to make cuts. Dayton is not exactly an area where a lot of growth is going on (housing-wise) and I wonder if this lack of growth is having an increased effect on baseball, which has always been a second-tier sport at that school.

I know I'm coming in on this one a little late but I'd say top to bottom the 33rd is the best district in nky year in and year out. Boone, Ryle, Conner, and St Henry are all legitimate top 5-7 teams every year.

 

While I think the 35th has the better teams in HC, CCH, and Beechwood, Holmes is probably one of the bottom 5 teams in nky year in and year out. I don't think they've had a solid season since 01 maybe when they had Jesse Johnson, Ayinde Payne, Antwan Curry, and the big catcher Smith.

I think you're putting too much on the coach. Roger Hamilton is actually a pretty good coach, but just doesn't have enough talent to work with.

 

I can remember Hamilton coaching some pretty good knothole teams that I believe in "A" ball, over a two year period went 54-10 including making it to the championship up at the city tournament in Blue Ash. When those kids were in D and C league they were middle of the pack and by the time they reached "A", Hamilton has turned them in to the best team in the league as a first and second year team.

 

Now the coach before Hamilton, Clay Osborne...he was a joke.

Not too sure about that....although Lloyd has not played a tough schedule, the only quality team that Dixie played so far is a struggling Cov Cath.

 

Wow, they loss to CCH twice, Holy Cross (in 8 innings), and Henry Clay, and they haven't played anyone. (maybe because they haven't played Ryle).
