There win over Conner is good but the other 2 wins against Dayton and Calvary don't impress me, but as the season continues and they face better opponents and if they win, ill jump on the ship that Lloyd is better than dixie. Another thing that shoked me is that they beat Dayton 29-1. What coach allows there team to run the score up like that, that is horrible!

A lot of teams could beat Dayton 50-1, but playing bad competition like that doesn't help you. You could say that Cov Cath, Beechwood, and Ryle could beat them 100-1 but teams don't do that, and any coach that allows there team to score that many runs should be ashamed.

They scored 15 runs in one inning. Should Coach Moore have said, "Come on guys! Give em' a break!" No... If you would have been at that game, you would have seen that they didn't run up the score, by any means.

Fair enough, if the 15 running didn't come in the 5th inning. Did Dayton commit a lot of errors to aide the juggernauts scoring?

Would it be fair to say the level of competition might have something to do with that? By the way Lloyd has lost 2 games.

 

As far as this thread I would guess the 34th isn't the toughest district in the 9th. I would say 35th and 33rd each have at least 3 teams that could win the district.

 

Not too sure about that....although Lloyd has not played a tough schedule, the only quality team that Dixie played so far is a struggling Cov Cath.

It does not seem any local team is playing to there ability .These early games may be no indication what could happen later in the year .

Not quite true! Behind Matt Nichols, Dixie had LexCath beaten at LexCath on Saturday March 29th, that was untill Matt threw his 102 pitch and was taken out. He stays in the game, and Dixe wins!

As far as the Lloyd-Dayton game goes, Lloyd and Coach Moore did all it could to make sure that the score did not get run up. There were something like 16 walks. The umpire even opened the strike zone up as big as he could to help move the game along but some pitches just were not close enough to be called strikes.

On top of that, you cannot ask kids to go up to the plate and get out on purpose, especially when people talk numbers as a big part of evaluating players. Sure you want them going up there hacking in such a lopsided game but you also do not want kids taking poor swings to develop bad habits.

It is what it is, but if you were at the game, you'd know that it didn't get intentionally run up.

Yes. Dayton was awful, all around. Pitching was terrible ( i guess the score shows that ) and so was fielding. Dayton had a lackluster effort, like they didn't care about the game.

I also believe that it should be a very competitive district in the 34th.

They surely aren't the headliners of the 9th Region but when they bring their A games it is possible that they could compete and make some noise this season.

Thought the same thing but was told by a very reliable source, that it was Matt who wanted to stay in the game. The Dixie coach came a calling after Matt threw (around) his 70 pitch, but Matt told him he was fine and asked to stay in!

If im a coach i dont care what a kid says about staying in for 102 pitches in march, i am taking him out at 75 pitches. I know the kids want to win the game but you cant risk arm problems.

Dayton has been like that for years, nothing against there coaching staff but they need to work these boys really hard and atleast get there minds into the game. If the coaching staff is laid back, the kids are going to be the same. It will be another struggle for Dayton this year but if they get the right people in there and kids that care, they can improve alot in the next 10 years.
