April 1, 200818 yr I am watching a show on the discovery channel about the night club. I was wondering if anyone has been there, and or believes in the story behind it.
April 1, 200818 yr Was it fun? Um, no. Not in the slightest. We stayed for almost an hour and like I said, will never be back.
April 1, 200818 yr AN UNASSUMING yet historic building on the banks of the Licking River in Wilder, Kentucky has become a nationally famous story because of the tragic, strange and paranormal occurrences that have taken place there over the years. The "haunted house" currently is home to Bobby Mackey's Music World, a local country music hot spot that is owned by the club's featured performer, Bobby Mackey. Author Douglas Hensley wrote a popular book on the subject – Hell's Gate: Terror at Bobby Mackey's Music World. Hensley spent five years researching the bizarre background of the nightclub and the building itself, which has a sordid history that dates back to the 1800s. In the back of the book are copies of 29 sworn and signed affidavits from club employees, patrons, Wilder Policemen and others, including Bobby Mackey's wife, Janet Mackey, who writes in her affidavit that an unseen force threw her down a flight of stairs and tried to harm her in other ways. Hensley summed up his observations in the book's introduction: "The phenomena within and about Bobby Mackey's Music World have yet to be satisfactorily defined by any explanation other than: it's haunted." http://paranormal.about.com/od/hauntedplaces/a/aa031207.htm

April 1, 200818 yr Author ...here is more background. Bobby Mackey's Music World is a nightclub located in Wilder, Kentucky. For many years, it has been subject to visits from curiosity-seekers, tourists, paranormal investigators and media reporters. It stands on the site of an old slaughterhouse that was closed down in the early 1890’s. Only a well in the basement remains from the original building, and was believed by police to be the resting place of the decapitated head of Pearl Bryan, a woman who was murdered by her boyfriend Scott Jackson, and his friend Alonzo Walling. Pearl’s head was never found and legend has it that it was used during a satanic ritual at the slaughterhouse. The ghosts of the victim and the murderers are believed to haunt the building to this day. The nightclub is owned by Bobby Mackey and his wife Janet. They purchased the building in 1978 with the intention of turning it into a country bar. Mackey was a well-known singer in northern Kentucky and had recorded several albums. He actually scrapped his plans to record in Nashville in order to renovate the old tavern. Once the bar was opened, it immediately began to attract a crowd. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Mackey's_Music_World

April 1, 200818 yr Very true...so are you saying you are not a believer?Something like that. Pearl Bryan was murdered right up the street from here. I've done a lot of research on the case. Her head is not at Bobby Mackey's. It's probably at the bottom of the river, somewhere between here and Cairo, Illinois.
April 1, 200818 yr Um, no. Not in the slightest. We stayed for almost an hour and like I said, will never be back. You lasted longer than me...20 minutes is all that I could take!
April 1, 200818 yr You lasted longer than me...20 minutes is all that I could take! What's wrong guys? A little too red for you? I used to stop in for beers all the time! And maybe a few laughs ...
April 1, 200818 yr What's wrong guys? A little too red for you? I used to stop in for beers all the time! And maybe a few laughs ... Well I guess you could find plety to laugh about....I couldn't get over the fact that there were about 75 people on the dance floor doing the boot scootin boogie all in sync! But then a fight broke out. So since I can't fight and can't line dance I decided it's no place for this ole boy.

Country line-dancing ranks right up there with parachute pants, leg warmers and Mohawk haircuts in the pantheon of the Most Ridiculous scale. Never a shortage of laughs when we'd go there, or that Coyote's joint off Buttermilk Pike (I think that was what it was called).
