June 16, 200818 yr Author The Internet equals the end of the newspaper. The newspaper business would be a bad one to invest in, IMO. I seem to have been onto something - the Herald Leader cut 4% of its staff today: http://www.wkyt.com/home/headlines/19985174.html The changing economy is prompting a round of layoffs at the Lexington Herald-Leader and its parent company. At the Herald-Leader, four percent of the staff, or the equivalent of 17 full-time employees, is being eliminated.
June 16, 200818 yr I don't know about the H-L, but the Courier-Journal has raised the rack price to 75 cents anywhere outside the Greater L'ville area. My guess is the H-L just did what Lexington has done for years on everything and copied the L'ville idea. Actually, CJ raised their prices about 6 months ago to $.75 weekday, $1.75 Sunday, everywhere,not just outside the Louisville area. Frankly, although I love to actually read the newspaper, it's much cheaper to go online and read it.
