St.X will probably be forced to move DJ Hall to LB. At 6'0" 200 he could easily make the transition. It will be a tough decision for Coach Glaser.

 

I think that would be a great move and put DJ in a position where he can make more big plays.

I like the idea as well, just wonder who the supporting cast will be...? Also of concern, who fills the void at safety...?

 

I was very impressed with Boone last year in the playoff game. Does their qb return? How about their wide receiver?

 

Boone lost 28 seniors I'm pretty sure the big three in qb, rb and wr were seniors!

LB's will be be Craig Brutscher who recently moved from DL, McCormick, Patrick Kilkelly and Possibly DJ Hall with 2 JV LB under consideration for the other spots.

Db will be Galbraith and Kamber at CB, Hall, Sears and Burckle at safety.

I could be totally wrong but 6' 200lbs sounds a little small for a St. X backer. That being said I don't question his athletic ability or potential to do well at the position, just wondering if anyone else, especially X supporters, have any objections to him moving?

^ 6' 200 lbs is a nice size LB. What one might lack in size, brings speed and quickness that are greater weapons than size alone. Plus, I have a thought that he may gain a pound or two between now and August....

I think that Trinity has to get the nod right now. They have both the best offensive (Tim Phillips) and best defensive player (Jordan Whiting) in the state. I don't think that happens very often. The last time I can think of is 1968 with Alan Hennessey and Tommy Riddle. If both remain healthy all season, by playoff time Coach Beatty will have put the supporting cast in all the right places. He's shown that he's pretty good at that.

Totally agree with you that 6" 200 lbs is big enough, especially given his other attributes which you listed. I was simply saying that he is not historically as big as other ST. X Backers and if this concerned any of you guys. I know that I would want a kid with his specs. on my team, just wondering if you think he could be put to better use in the secondary as a menacing and tenacious safety (i.e. Brian Urlacher in college). With the D-lines you all put together, the backers aren't always the brick walls of the front 7/8, and against passing teams it might be nice to have someone in the secondary who opposing recievers have their other eye on when coming across the middle.

MS - IMHO Hall was exceptional in the secondary last year for the Tigers. I thought he played as hard nosed d-back as we have had for several years. Quickness, judgement and toughness in making contact were very, very good for a junior... Im sure the coaches will make the right call, I just hope that if he is moved to LB, there will be someone who can fill his role as DB. I'm more in favor of the speed and quickness at the LB spot than the size issues... This is really a good problem to have, trying to figure out where to exploit the talents of the players.... Looking forward to the 08 season.
