Agreed. SK loses three seniors, Wormald, Farris and Conley. Tolliver will anchor the Lady Pioneers.

 

Class "A" will be big this year. Add Henry County into the mix as well. They only lose 1 senior as Kelsey Mings and Brittany Crawford continue to develop.

 

Walton-Verona re-builds with Coach Miller and Coach Trame at the helm, and Gallatin County brings back 5 juniors for their final year.

10th region- I agree on Montgomery

If drawing falls a certain way, I believe St pat and Bracken in finals with St pat winning. Too much experience returning for both of these teams vs Mason co inexperience.

If all the girls stick together that are coming back from the schools that will make up Harlan County High School; then look out 13th Region because they will be loaded.

8th region will not change much.

The 8th region will be more open than ever next year. I agree with your top two but after that, it is a toss up. I would give the edge to Oldham County having a chance to do something although losing Melton will be a huge loss for them.

 

Shelby doesn't have any players of Gray's caliber and it will be interesting to see how coach Zimmerman brings this group along. As for South Oldham, they lose too much -Jones carried them the last 4 years in so many ways other than just scoring points. It will be a tough year until their incoming freshman class gets their feet wet. They will be a contender down the road though. Spencer Co. has made huge strides and could be the sleeper team of the region next year.

Of course, I have to give a nod to Carroll in the 31st. I think with the exit of almost all the "bigs" to graduation that the Panthers will matchup well with anyone.

 

I think that Gallatin will have a good year and that Williamstown will be strong. As far as the region. I do not think that any of the teams are heads above the rest. It will be exciting in the 8th because the teams are going to be so even,

 

Trimble, WV and Owen took some big hits to graduation so they will be re-building. I also thing that Spencer Co. may sneak in there except they have a tough district.

Henry may surprise some.

 

I think the traditional regional favorites may get challenged by some of the smaller schools this year. I am looking forward to seeing some of the teams this summer.

52nd District

 

1.) Harlan County Lady Bears

2.) Middlesboro Lady Jackets

3.) Harlan Lady Dragons

4.) Bell County Lady Cats

These young players will be talented and good in the future, but not really next year, IMO. These girls, with the exception of Menke, didn't receive enough playing time. I'll predict that they will win the district title again, because there is not much in their district, but it could be a close one because St. Pat returns pretty much everyone, and Bracken County will return some nice players too. Mason County won't be the powerhouse they have been in years past. Like mcpapa said in another thread....they graduated around 7,000 points. I'd say every bit of 75% is what the three seniors scored of Mason County's points. More than one player is going to have to step up out of this young bunch, and I just don't see that happening next year.

 

Montgomery is still the team to beat in the 10th. They lost Prewitt out of the starting 5, but return Mckenzie Lee and Jelik, and some other very nice players.

St. Patrick not only returns everyone but Beth Nolder (congrats Beth on a fine carreer) but are very Talented 9th through 12th on next years squad. Another very small school to watch next year will be Deming young but with Talent. We all know a year can make big difference in a young persons life, I can't wait to see who has been out there doing the work.
