Brad Popham from Dixie .He started for Dixie toward the end of the year as a catcher .Not sure when he took over the starting role . Yes , he does have the chance to be very good .

 

Popham and Leeke and Bertke from Beechwood are playing on the same summer team this year .

Gallatin has 2 Freshman to look out for this year.

From Beechwood :

Zac Larimore : P, SS

 

Josh Bertke : IF , P

 

Brad Leeke : OF

 

All will see minimal time at the freshman level .These 3 will spend most of the time with the varsity .Bertke and Leeke lettered last year as 8 th graders .

 

All three of these players will probably end up on the J.V. level by the end of the year. Brad Leeke, I heard, had Tommy John. Zac Larimore will be a straight pitcher at the varsity level. Josh Bertke will need to improve his arm strength to play third on the varsity level.

CovCath has a freshman who pitched for East Cobb (Ga.) last summer.

Shumate played at least some of his summer ball here in NKY last year. And I would be very surprised if he pitched varsity this year for CCH. CCH has some sophomore pitchers - Warning and Gerwe, to name two - would that be far more varsity ready.

Campbell Co. has several very good freshman, Kremer, Teegarden, Rebholz, Jenkins, Losey,and Shepard. Just to name some of them. they should have a very strong squad this year.

I went to USSSA's website for 14U and 13U major for 2007 and did not see his name under any of the East Cobb teams' rosters.

He played for the East Cobb Longhorns and won a World Series with them last summer. I have seen his W.S. ring.

This is not to take anything away from him, but the Longhorns are not one of East Cobb's elite teams. We played them at the Barrett Fletcher WS in Charleston, SC two years ago. They are good - as was every team down there - but nothing special. As has been already stated, don't be taken solely by the "East Cobb" name. They have many solid-but-not-special teams.
