Scott County 59 Franklin County 54

Scott Co and Lex-Cath should be a very good game. Could go either way, but I think Catholic will pull away late.

Dunbar should match up well against Bryan Station. But I think Bryan Station is just too good right now. Bryan Station by double digits.

Scott Co and Dunbar should be 11th region pre-season favorites next season. Most of the other 11th region schools will be reloading with much younger teams.

Congrats to Scott County and Dunbar tonight.

I love watching games this time of the year. Hope the snow doesn't impact the games Friday and Saturday. I am planning to be there both days.

Ball fan you might be a guru on predictions about next year, but my question to you is to back your next years prediction up with facts and justification. Bottom line is folks often make predictions based on perception. I will give you this Scott Co has had the success over the years and deserves respect, but ask the boys from Scott Co if they respect FCHS tonight. Mark this down, it was no fluke that Franklin Co took the Cardinals down to the wire tonight. If any Scott Co fan says it is because they just had a bad game they are kidding themselves and not living in reality world. Franklin Co has no seniors, only Juniors and sophomores, and took Scott Co's seniors who are defending state champs down to the wire. The Flyers have grown up this season and came out of the locker room tonight after the game hungry for more.

This did not happen because Scott Co. just played bad, it was because FC went man to man and got up in their face. The game was called consistently although Hicks (who I think is the best coach in the state) worked the officials the entire first half with the classic whinning routine that we have seen so many times over the years.

Yes Scott Co won and was the better team tonight, but as the Scott Co faithful ( Students and parents chanted "your season is over") what they don't know is that Franklin County has no seniors, and will return everyone. All the FCHS boys will do is transition into the next season which will be AAU, and summer high school ball, as well as weight lifting and other training. These boys take it serious, but are right now the Rodney Dangerfields of the 11th region getting no respect all year. Cantrall has been asleep. How do they win 20 games playing the schedule they have played beating top 20 teams yet still get no respect.

Franklin Co played as tough a schedule as anyone out there and will do it again next year. They have matured as a team and will get better over the summer. Yes ball fan Dunbar is good but they lose key players as well. Scott Co. and Dunbar should be the favorites next year, but watch out for Rodney Dangerfield next year as I predict they will become more of a contender instead of a pretender.

Are they expected to beat Catholic?

No. I can't see it..how did Phares only have 10 tonight?

SC is going to have to step their game up. They have been playing well below what they are capable of the last couple of weeks and if they dont get their mind right, their season will end on Saturday. These seniors have to step up and play hard and as a team and not quit on their teammates.

What time are the games Saturday?

Station and Dunbar at 1:00, followed by Catholic and Scott Co. at 2:45.

Is this the same Franklin County team that Holmes beat by 20?

Would have thought Scott County might have won by a bit larger margin.

Not all players were healthy, and when your team is without any seniors and your bench is extremely inexperienced it makes it real tough. Not to take anything away from Holmes as I really like there chances to get to Rupp and do damage, but if you know the real story about FC during the year the teams that won handily over FC caught them at a time they were not 100%. FC got better and stepped their game up down the stretch this season which will give them confidence to carry over to next season. This is the first season that this starting group has played together as Franklin County graduated 7 seniors last season.

Good Job Flyers you guys played tough and did not back down. Great job getting 20 wins and a district title. I am especially proud of those who play both football and Basketball they were huge in the post season for the Flyers (Hicks, Conner, Watkins).

All three had great games last night.

Thanksfor clearing that up. That's why I asked if it was the saem FC team that Holmes beat. :thumb:

Coach Hicks and company had a tough one. Does not get any easier against Lexington Catholic in the semifinals.

Great atmosphere and great game, congrats to SC on advancing! Congratulations to the Flyers on a 20 win season and their 1st district title in 8 years! FC will be a team to look out for next season!

Coach Hicks "whinning"? No way..... at least according to a lot of folks on this board !

Coach Hicks is a really nice person; especially off the court. In fact, I think he is too nice sometimes. But when the game starts, he works the refs like no other. (well maybe Feldhaus at MC).

I too agree that Scott County hasn't been playing as well the last few weeks. Having watched 8-10 of their games this year, I think point guard (ball handling) has hurt them a lot. Maybe the loss of Mackey was the reason. I think they started the season with Guyn at point, but way too many turnovers. So they switched and have kind of had to have some kids play point that are not true point guards. If you press them (especially with a 2-2-1) they really struggle getting the ball up. Clay and Station both did that in the district and they had trouble and a lot of turnovers.

As for next year, hard to tell about any school. You are right. They have weight lifting, a whole season in the summer. Conditioning in the fall, etc..... These are young kids who are all still developing. All depends on how everyone develops.

But I agree, Franklin County should be a nice team next year. I only saw them play 1 game this year, and it was a loss. So I couldn't judge them so well.

Scott County will have Phares and Guyn back next year as their core. The Manning kid (freshman) next year, should contribute, and will probably start (at least by the end of the year.) They'll be good as usual. Station and Clay will be rebuilding. Tates Creek should be stronger in the 11th next year.

What a region we live in!

As I said he is probably the best coach in the state.

OK I will agree, he works the refs like nobody else, but his body language is such that it looks like whinning. My point here is that his team plays as physical defense as anyone out there. Lots of handchecking, bumping and holding. When Franklin Co gave them some of their own medicine he complained to the refs the entire second quarter. As a fan of the opposing team, it looks like whinning.

Yes, Hicks is a class act, a great coach, and fun to watch even if you aren't a fan of his team.

With regard to Franklin Co. the only prediction I will make is that if there football players get through that season healthy as well as the basketball only players being healthy they will be a better team next season. We will just have to wait untill next season to see how that stacks up in the 11th.
