Give me Marvin Lewis # The Bengals COULD make the move of the offseason

Featured Replies

There is a part of my that is happy the Bengals haven't gone out and wasted money like so many NFL teams have. There are so many guys getting overpaid that it will set some of those franchises back bad. Look at the Colts,Steelers,Pats(for the most part) etc and learn from what they are doing right. They don't waste a ton of money in free agency unless it is a bigtime payoff. They take care of their own and draft smart.

The Browns have decided to pay Stallworth way to long IMO and they have overpaid for Rogers. He is as good as there is for about 1 out of 5 plays but is getting 20 million guarnteed upfront money. This IS a blessing in disguise for the Bengals if they will jump on the chance. The Titans have rolled the dice with Albert Haynesworth (the best in the league). They didn't offer earlier and now he is in control to ask for around 25 million up front. The Titans aren't really in a good situation to pay that BUT the Bengals are! I would bet the farm right now if the Bengals call and offer a 2nd round pick this year and a second round pick next year then they WILL get Haynesworth!

Somebody get me Marvins number right now and let's get this thing done! This would instantly put the Bengals in the top group of teams in the NFL especially when they are free to go after a top pass rusher off the edge the top LBer in the draft (I'd go pass rusher first).

Pumped up a little bit for this trade?

"Let's get this thing done!"

Haynesworth is immensely talented, but after signing a big contract he could be less motivated.

Tennessee has an ideal situation this season, he is franchised and could be a free agent again next season; of course they will eventually have to pay him long term, trade him, or let him walk.

I agree with one good to great DT, the defense could be immensely improved with a shot at another good DT in the draft.

There is some worry if he gets a big contract that he isn't as motivated but I would roll the dice with him. He would instantly make the Bengals a much better team and free them up to do more in the draft IMO. The Titans took a lick when the Browns overpaid and the Bengals can afford him. I'd get it done tonight if I were running the Bengals. Not only does he make them a different team but I would have to think that Bengal fans would be estatic!

Albert Haynesworth could totally transform the Bengals defense, IMO...just look at the what the Titans did with him this year, and then look what happened in the games he missed. He's the best in the business when motivated...

But, I wouldn't pay him what he's going to demand. So, as a Titans fan, it wouldn't bother me at all to see them trade him for some good picks. However, I think he could be worth it for Cincy...they need a guy who can have a monster impact and this is the guy. Whether this is a real possibility, I don't know...I just heard the guys on SIRIUS Radio bouncing the idea around yesterday. I'd at least look into it if I were the Bengals...

I'm supposed to say something negative about the Bengals here...let me think for a while. :D

Haynesworth will probably draw record money for a defensive lineman, and possibly overtake Dwight Freeney as the NFL's highest paid defensive player ever......I'm not sure the Bengals will shell out cash like that....

Just playing around...

If they some how managed to get Haynesworth, I couldn't say anything bad about it. They just better not kill their cap situation for the next 5 years.

Oh, and they better hope he doesn't decide to stomp on another players face.

They better hope he decides to play hard...

Hypothetically, if they did get Haynesworth and he gave his best effort and the Bengals added a few other pieces and stayed healthy, I could see their defense being in the top half of the league. He's an absolute monster in the middle...

As a Titans fan, I'd hate to see him go, but knowing his past, I'd rather them let him go than pay him what he'll demand. Last year is the first time he's really put it all together and given them that consistent effort...in a contract year, of course. So, to question how he'd do with a big contract is a legit concern, IMO. I'd prefer to see the Titans move him now and get something in return as opposed to letting him walk after this season. However, with the franchise tag on him, I'd say they'd be getting another season of maximum effort from Albert.

I wouldn't be willing to trade 2 2nd round draft picks for Albert Haynesworth.

Really? Wow...

Haynesworth is a beast...considering the Bengals track record with draft picks, I think it would be a good move on their part.
