NKYSTEELERSFAN Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Congrats Rebels :dancingpa. Looks like Coach Fookes does it again...
NKYSTEELERSFAN Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Riherd's said it went into overtime, must have been a good one.
NKYSTEELERSFAN Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Conner won by 5 during the regular season, I don't think Boone winning the district championship is really ever an upset.
cats5262 Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Did go into overtime. Good game!!! Can't wait and see if they meet in the Regional finals as well!!!
Cardfan07 Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 Now that will be one heck of a game!
madman Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Congrats to the Lady Rebels. Big win especially on Conner's floor. I knew Nell would have her troops ready to go to war. Good job and good luck in the Regional Tournament.
bjim Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Both of these teams are pretty good, obviously. I think they both will need more balanced scoring to beat Notre Dame and Highlands. Conner didn't adjust at all in this game. Boone had two players that scored 49 of their 59 points. Those girls had great games, but to depend on that again against Notre Dame or Highlands might be a little risky. I've never been to a game where with 30 seconds left in the 4th and Conner driving the announcer is making announcements with live play going on. That seems like it might be a little distracting. Anyway great game, good luck to both teams in the regional.
Crunch-time Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 The announcer did that to both teams several times throughout the game. I was pretty shocked the ref's didn't stop him, but oh well. Conner was 20-4 on their home floor, #2 in the region - BC #4, and beat Boone a month ago on the same floor...this would have to be an upset. There are some very good match-ups coming next week. The 9th region champ's will have certainly earned it. This thing is up in the air big-time. 4-5 teams are playing their best basketball right now. You can throw out the fact the HHS beat Conner twice...you can throw out the fact that HHS beat Boone at home...you can throw out the fact the Boone beat NDA by 17pts at home. The tourney is being played on a neutral floor for every team...ya can't write a better script.
PawPrint Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 If I'm not mistaken, in the 4th qtr. as Boone Cty. had the ball, Kremer for Conner fouled Sparrow for Boone on the wing. Boone Cty. was in the bonus. Boone Cty. then called a timeout. When they returned, #34 (name unknown) but not Sparrow, shot the free throw. She ultimately missed. My questions: 1) Did someone see the same thing? 2) If so, and Conner would have caught it, is it a technical on Boone Cty.? 3) Could it have been done intentionally?
DMZ76 Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Call the SPCA! Someone harmed a Sparrow on the wing!! It could have been done intentionally...I'd like to think not. If Conner catches it prior to the shot, then the refs usually just switch out players. If one is made and awaiting another when detected...I'm not sure but I believe they just cancel the point and re-do! I've seen players many times go to the line and try to take a lesser % free-throwers place. Never remember technicals over it.

I saw exactly the same thing that you did. Sparrow was fouled.... #34 went to the line. I thought I must have been mistaken. I could not understand why Boone County would want #34 to shoot instead of Sparrow. Not taking anything away from #34.... I don't know anything about her. However, I do know that Sparrow is a shooter. I don't know the ruling on this. I don't know if I have ever seen "the switch" pulled off without a ref catching it prior to the ball being handed to the shooter.

What were they hawking buttery popcorn, piping hot pizza and delicious hot dogs at the Cougar Stand?
