I know many of you may not want to here it but here's some information on John McCain.

 

1936 - Born

1958 - Graduated 894 out of 899 in Naval Academy

1958 - Despite his less than stellar Academy record, he was commission to go to Air Flight School. I could speculate that his grandfather and father who were Admirals could have helped.

1959 - Had a reputation as a partier, drove a Corvette & dated an exotic dancer.

1965 - John married Carol Shepp who was previously married to one of his classmates. His daughter Syndy was born in 1966, when John was 30.

1967-1973 - P.O.W. years

1973-1979 - Was an adulterer with several women including Cindy Hensley. John's wife Carol had a car wreck in 1969 which caused her medical problems and she gained substantial weight. John divorced Carol in 1980. John does recognize this as a mistake, he was over 40 years old at the time.

1980 - Divorced in April and was married in May. Cindy was 18 years younger (John was 43 and she was 26). John's daughter Sydney and adoptive children did not attend the wedding but did reconcile years later with him and Cindy.

1980's - Keating 5 in which John McCain was found to have improperly used his office to benefit to Charles Keating's Savings and Loan Association. Keating had donated over $112,000 to McCain from '82 to '87. Cindy and her dad had invested over $300,000 in Keating's business. The Keating 5 attempted to influence Federal regulators when Keatings business venture failed and left many investors broke.

1989- Cindy McCain abuses pain killers and even stole pills from her own AVMT, non-profit organization (yes this is a federal offense before you ask). She escaped prison by getting counseling and treatment.

1992 - Tom Gosinski, director of gov't affairs for AVMT, discovered the drug theft.

1993 - Gosinski was fired & notified of the theft.

1993 - McCain reached an agreement to re-imburse and get Cindy treatment but to also limit anything to become public.

2000- Allegations of improper benefits & relationships to benefit lobbyists

2002 - After the Enron scandel & 9/11, McCain-Feingold was finally passed 60-40, despite Republican opposition (48 Dems, 11 Rep & 1 Ind voted YEA; 38 Rep & 2 Dems voted NEA)

 

While many on here opposed the NY Times add, there are many things in McCain's past where he does not use good judgement with women (many people may say, "once an adulterer, always one"). He has also used his position and power to benefit himself and business associates.

 

Remember the old say, "Don't throw stones in a glass house".

I'm sure there will be much spin to take the topic off of John McCain. Many will throw stones at Clinton or Obama and that is fair. I'm just trying to add a little "BALANCE" to this "FAIR AND BALANCED", Bluegrass Prep!!

With a little research, you could learn that the special prosecutor that handled the Keating 5 investigation recommended that charges be dropped against McCain after the special prosecutor found no evidence that McCain had attempted to improperly influence the regulators.

 

While you mentioned McCain Feingold, you did not in any way give McCain the appropriate props for making that happen. Rather, you intentionally attempted to mislead posters by pointing out that many R's opposed it.

 

And you put great emphasis on John's personal life and the personal life of his family which in my opinion is reprehensible.

 

If that's your definition of "fair" I hope my clients never have any business dealings with you.

I have to this point tried NOT TO do ATTACK politics but it appears that Conservatives do not care to.

 

I decided to make this post once posters said that Barack Hussein Obama must have tough skin to be President. He cannot change his name, his color or his father but many have attacked those things in very intimate details, nonetheless.

 

This is the point to this thread!! IT IS OKAY TO ATTACK BARACK OBAMA because he is bi-racial, his father is from Kenya or his middle name is Hussein (things he cannot change) BUT IT IS NOT OKAY TO ATTACK JOHN SYNDEY MCCAIN.

 

Barack Obama has been attack for "supposedly" being a Muslim, for being bi-racial, for his father, for his wife's remarks, for his middle name, etc. Are these not personal???

Facts like these make me smile. Just think how great our military is if a guy like McCain is 894 of 899 and withstood the pain and anguish of being in a POW camp for 6+ years... Soldiers 1 through 893 just must be phenomenal!!! And if 895 through 899 are only slightly below the level of Mr. McCain then "Hoo-YAH!!!".

Leather, this is a typical Democrate style attack. Just like Hillary ( trying to attack Obama's personal life ) against someone from her own party. The man is a war hero and our country needs a war veteran during this hostile period in our history. If we don't continue to attempt to build an alliance with Iraq and have a presence in the middle east, Bin Ladden will be hiding out in the Rockie mountains instead of the Afgan Mountains.

 

P.S. Obama is being attacked by Cunningham, a radio personallity, not by McCain.

No one disputed his heroism and bravery but that was before 1973. Let's fastforward some 35 years and discuss his judgements since.
