Notre Dame Academy agreed to reschedule their game with Shelby County after it was canceled on Thurs. because they new it was Shelby County's Senior Night. By doing this it cause NDA to have back to back games, the one Friday against Shelby followed by a game on Saturday early afternoon against Sacred Heart.

So what I am getting at? That Trimble IMO should have played the game.

Oh, yeah...there is that thing called practicing before the tournament, too! :sssh:

 

I would imagine Trimble's girls would get much more out of playing Williamstown than they would playing against their JV in practice.

This happened to us last year too (senior night game cancelled due to weather and no time to have a make up game). One of the parents had a nice party at their house for all players and families to try to replicate senior night and regognize the players. Not quite the same but it was alot of fun.

Had a chance to talk to Coach Wilhoit today. He had spent all day yesterday trying to get a fill in game tonight for his team. He even tried to get Gallatin Co. which was a cancellation from Thursday, but they declined also. I would have to agree with Cat24, playing a game vs practicing against your JV would be better for the teams. Both Gallatin and Trimble were conference seed games. Both would not have made a difference in who won the conference, but it could have made a difference in hoe many players get named to the all conference teams. He was more upset over that part of it.

 

The school is planning on honoring the seniors (including Sr. cheerleaders) during their basketball awards night.

Be disappointed in Coach Stewart all you want. Trimble had already beaten WmTown twice in the regular season, including just two weeks ago. Anyone that thinks that putting a game plan together and playing WmTown will prepare the Lady Raiders to play South Oldham in districts is just plain crazy. I doubt that Coach Wilhoit would have ran SO's offense and defense for us to practice against.

 

I am sorry that the two seniors (and any cheerleading seniors) didn't get recognized tonight or last night or the night before. It seems as though that is what everyone cares about, not the game, anyway. Bottom line is this. Coach Stewart has to do what is best to prepare HER team for districts.

If Trimble Co. was willing to play last night, why not tonight? Sounds like this was a good excuse (preparing for South Oldham, haha) for Trimble not to possibly suffer another loss before going into the Districts. I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot, Trimble fans would be upset also. If there was a concern that the starters may get hurt, play the reserves. Williamstown probably wouldn't have cared. At least they would have had their Senior Night. Total lack of class on Coach Stewart's part.

I have seen Coach Stewart a few or so times:jump:, and all I have seen is class. I see both views on this. Senior is a special night, but I also see Trimble's view. It's just how it goes. Feel for Williamstown but I see what Trimble is thinking.

I would feel disappointed that my seniors didn't get to have a recognition. However, I would understand that districts are more important than senior night. You don't play the whole year to have a senior night....you play to win post season games.

 

So no one holds any ill will toward Gallatin Co for cancelling their game on Thursday and not rescheduling for Saturday? I don't, but I think it shows what all matters to most here.

That's your assumption, I never said I was a Walton fan. I'm just familiar with the program and know a little about what goes on. I am a Williamstown fan so I do care. But, who I'm a fan of really doesn't matter, I just don't like to see girls who have worked and sacrificed for several years not get the opportunity for recognition on their special night. What would it have hurt for Trimble to play them, I'm sure Coach Stewart could have worked on some things during the game to prepare them for the tough South Oldham game. My feelings are still the same, she may be one of the classiest coaches in your opinion but this surely wasn't a classy act on her part and this is my opinion.

Not sure how the Owen coach got involved, maybe you mean the Gallatin coach. I'm disappointed with her also. I'm feel for the seniors but life will go on. Hopefully, all teams mentioned used this time to prepare for the Districts.

TB&G, I don't know what you are talking about. Owen Co's girls have made up all their games. The boys won't be making up a home game against Trimble Co but that does not effect anyone's senior night. Grant Co was good enough to come to Owen Co and make up a boy girl double header on Sat night so Owen Co's seniors could have a senior night. Trimble Co should have done the same for Williamstown. Yes injuries can happen but they can happen in practice or by slipping on the ice on the front porch. I feel bad for Williamstown.

 

I agee that senior night generally means more to the girls than the boys. Boys and girls are different. (Or maybe the girls just show their emotions more easily.)
