I understand both sides of this. I think you can get more out of playing a game than you can having a practice at this time of the year. You can't worry about injuries. I feel bad that W-town misses out on their senior night because I know it is disappointing to them. Good luck to both teams in district play. Trimble and W-town will both have tough opponents next week.

It was Senior night at Owen County. They did a great job recognizing their Seniors. It was long (), but it was special for those kids & the Owen fans were out & on their feet cheering & thanking all those kids. Although I understand the why's & the why not's all addressed here, including why Trimble chose to not make-up the game. It still will not make up the chance for the Williamstown faithful to thank their players. I feel for the players.

 

The thought that keeps popping into my head is that these girls from Williamstown have had what, 6 or 7 years playing varsity? Wow. I know the Williamstown faithful would have been on their feet for their Seniors! But you know what? They are on their feet every game aren't they? They thank those girls every game!

TB&G, I don't know what you are talking about. Owen Co's girls have made up all their games. The boys won't be making up a home game against Trimble Co but that does not effect anyone's senior night. Grant Co was good enough to come to Owen Co and make up a boy girl double header on Sat night so Owen Co's seniors could have a senior night. Trimble Co should have done the same for Williamstown. Yes injuries can happen but they can happen in practice or by slipping on the ice on the front porch. I feel bad for Williamstown.

 

I agee that senior night generally means more to the girls than the boys. Boys and girls are different. (Or maybe the girls just show their emotions more easily.)

You are probably right GF. It took a career night for Barnes in the first game and TC shooting over 50% from the field to beat them. The second game it took a season low 20% from the field from W'Town for them to win, so I a sure TC would have killed W'town on their home floor.

 

Maybe that is why gallatin didn't re-schedule with W'town since the Lady Demons have beaten them twice this year. Don't be scared.

Wtown should ask Coach Wright to make a statement in this game for them. I hope South wins by 60. If it was a gamed to be played play the game, Sr night or not. I think Trimble knew playing at Wtown would be much tougher than playing them at home. Best i can recall the game in the All A was a pretty good game. So dont act like Trimble is 60 better than Wtown. Trimble's not to good on the road away from home. True class by ND to play the games on their schedule.

If the game were to be played at Trimble County, and it was going to be their senior night, AND Coach Stewart had the opportunity to reschedule the game for Saturday. Do you think she would have played and honored her seniors, or do you think that she would have cancelled so she could practice and get ready for South Oldham? Personally, I do not. I think she would have done whatever she could to get the game in and honor her seniors.

My thought is, be proactive in your scheduling. Some schools do not have senior night on their last home game, they have it earlier. Carroll Co boys had theirs against us this year, even though the played Grant Co at home two days later.

This is absolutely true. It will be before the 8th graders are well into HS before TC is very competitive again. We didn't rack up many wins this season, but played some nice games. I don't know how much of either will be true for a while now.

The reality of the situation is no one can control the weather and the purpose of senior night is supposed to be to honor the seniors on their last game played at home. You do not have complete control over when that is going to be with weather and conference scheduling. Sometimes games get snowed out, and often it is impossible to work them into the schedule of both teams. In this situation, both teams had Saturday open. Coach Stewart knew it was going to be Senior Night for Williamstown, and still chose to not reschedule the game because she thought it was in her teams best interest. I just think that as a coach and an educator she should take into consideration the effect this had on the Williamstown Seniors and be empathetic enough to realize she would not want this to happen to her seniors (one of which is her daughter).
