I can't wait for football season!! :dancingpa

I know this will be a stupid question, but what effect does spring football practice have on a season that doesn't start for atleast 5 months after spring practice? I personally would not want my baseball players playing in a spring game so they can get thier neck broke before the season starts. It all seems a little anal to me.
I don't think anybody wants their neck broke. I see it as a way to get athletes out that normally wouldn't think about coming out and give them a feel for the sport. I believe that having full contact practices during this time a big risk with very little reward.
You totally avoided the question. The question was: What would people think if the football coach ran fall baseball practices during football season? Can you answer that question? Put yourself in the other persons shoes. If we are going to be football oriented then lets get rid of the other sports and be football oriented. I'm not trying to start anything. I wish it would go back to the old days where you played a sport and moved on to the next one. You didn't practice or play all 3 year round like today. I am a huge football fan. I come to every game, and I can't stand it when my school loses at anything.
Spring football is not mandetory. Whoever wants to come can come out. I have seen baseball players go to football practice afterwards and some choose not to.

If a coach gives players a hard tim for playing baseball then he is acting in a selfish manner.

There is certainly little glory in playing high school baseball. I really enjoy watching the kids that do play because they play because they love it.

I think most schools are like Raceland. Even if baseball is popular the games aren't well attended. Its not because the community doesn't care, but its more about the game start times and weather.

The kids that love football love spring football and can't wait for it to come. The coaches like it becuase they get to see what they will be working with next year, they love coaching and don't have to wait untill the season to start working with the kids.

Many schools will start spring practice on Monday March 3rd. As for baseball players a football coach CANNOT require someone playing baseball to be at spring practice.

You are right, but there are some football players who play baseball that will do both.

For 10 practices, I think the baseball and football coach should work together to make it work for the players.

Are any baseball coaches cooperating if a player wants to do both?

Agree, but its a 2 way street. I dont think a football coach should take kids who are playing baseball and make them hit for 10 practices. Throwing, catching and doing drill work would be OK.

The Bluebirds of Highlands seem to be really physical in their spring football. I attended last years training session, I thought I would see a few agility drills, maybe run some dry offense. It was no holds bar! There was about a Hundred of them they were like marines, it look like they had been at it for months. Really impressive, Good luck!

Sping football at Raceland has really improved over the years, before coach Maynard arrived the rams would just have 2 weeks of non contact practices, basically covering fundamentals. But now they have 2 weeks of full contact practice and a spring game. I know the players, community, and students really enjoy this, and its always exciting to see some helments clash in the middle of baseball season !!

Thats not really true, when I played for Raceland in 2000 he had the same format as they do now, the first week was non-contact, then the second week was full contact, and on the last day we had a orange/white game on the last day.

That would be illegal, practice has to start after the basketball teams have been knocked out of the distrist, regional, or state tournament. It could start if the team is not one of the final two in the districtThis goes for the girls team also. :sssh:

The deep run into the playoffs helps! By the time that some of these kids are seniors, they have played almost an "extra" full season of games! This really becomes an advantage when replacing outgoing players. I believe it's why good teams "reload" rather that "rebuild" !!
