Alright then, let's make it a million. And I know that is not the small business owners in my county that are providing a bunch of jobs.

You're right, it is probably the government providing most of the jobs in your town (not knowing where you live) just an educated guess.

Okay, so you make a million then are taxed at 50%. Would you hang around when you could go elsewhere and be taxed at a lower rate?

You may not think that people over the million dollar income level supply a lot of the jobs either, but their investments back into communities whether directly or indirectly create a lot jobs.

If that is what is happening, Okay.

But that is not what seems to be happening.

They certainly aren't sitting on their money. Paper money gets weaker if you just hold onto it because of inflation.

That is not investing but spending for a very small market. One fashion designer charging $400 for a pair of socks.

To me, investing is reinvesting in businesses to create jobs that are not a small market.

Howver, it is still a market, that does create jobs, the buisness designer will have to be thread which is in another market, accountants to hide his money, labor to help him make the socks, a tech guy because they can not figure out how to run excel, a lawyer to make sure that his socks are protected, insurance for the buisness, so and so and so on.

But they don't do that.

Instead they buy couture socks and $10,000 MONTHLY cable bills and $2,300 for their pets.

Actually most do. They invest in large mid and small cap stocks which in turn creates jobs at Wal-mart lowes, mcdonalds, etc... Everybody can win.

People also don't take into account that not only is globalization good for the US, but it does wonders for other countries as well (or at least it can with good government policy)

I don't remember suggesting a 50% rate for millionaires. In fact, I think I said 35%.

If they think they can make the same amount of income in another country on this planet, good riddance.

Government does not provide most of the jobs in my county. Small businesses would.

I do think millionaires provide a lot of jobs for their communities and I said I would give tax breaks for any income they make that they reinvest into the business that would create more jobs.

Besides paparazzi, what jobs is Paris Hilton creating?

They certainly aren't sitting on their money. Paper money gets weaker if you just hold onto it because of inflation.

Nope the gov't is taking it, giving to those hard working people that produce a baby every year for five to seven years. Sit at home, wondering why they don't have the american dream, it is the rich man's fault, that is the conclusion...

Give one person a million to spend on luxury items versus giving a million to 40 families at the mid to low income level and I would venture a guess that a better lift to the economy would happen to the 2nd.

Now that I would not be for.

She has done well in filming industry,

small buisnesses can not survive thanks to Wal-Mart:cry:

No, they are buying couture socks and $10,000 cable bills while others cannot afford health insurance.

Two things:

1) Take away Paris Hilton, and, as much as it pains me to say, you take away the happiness of a lot of people, because they LOVE seeing her on TV and in the magazines or else she would not still be there.

2)"The only difference between miserliness and philanthropy is that the philanthropist serves a favored few while the miser spreads his largess far and wide."- Steven E. Landsburg You don't need to see the spending, putting money in the bank is probably more helpful than anything.

Don't buy the socks. If enough people stop buying them the price will go down.

So, it is the rich man's fault at Walmart that small businesses go out of business?

BTW, we don't have a Walmart in our county.

Don't buy the socks. If enough people stop buying them the price will go down.

It is couture socks. Means we come to your house, measure your feet and they are specifically made to ONLY FIT YOUR FOOT. So, I couldn't buy the socks. There is one pair made and it is for you.
