Districts are @ HC and I am pretty sure that Coach Whitaker won't quit before districts.

It is a little funny to hear HHS complaining about getting homered. Coach Richey tends to get an edge in the LadyBird house as well.

I don't know where you got that. I've been to every HHS home game and I certainly haven't seen that. Coach Richey is an excellent coach And doesn't need to beg for calls, and that did happen in h/c game by their coach. HE begged for every call & in most cases , got it The officiating was horrible. Those two guys should be barred.

Lets just say this. I was at the game and yes H/C played their hearts out and actually outhustled the Birds in the 1st half. The second half was all Highlands unless you were playing in Cynthiana. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention it was HC Senior night and also Coach Whitakers' last game ever at home as Fillies coach. Not that any of that stuff should matter when you reach this level of competition. But yes my friends the one ref did look like a puppet and yes when Whitaker complained he got what he wanted and when he didnt which wasnt often he would stare this guy down untill he got it. I dont want to sound like sour grapes here but I have a 7th grade daughter who also recongnized what was going on right in front of her own eyes and couldnt believe that this sort of thing goes on at this level of play. I did explain to my daughter that the only way HHS was going to win that one last night was if the Birds would have made their bunny baskets and put about 20 pts between them and HC. Unfortunately HHS didnt capitalize and HC kept fighting until the end eventually pulling off the upset. Congrats to the HC Seniors. And yes, it was a perfect end if you are a HC fan to a very suspious homey evening.

 

 

Gosh, it sounds like Coach Whitaker hired his own officials...when it was time to make a crucial call, did the officials defer to him before making a decision? If and when Coach Whitaker retires, perhaps he should hold coaches clinics where he teaches coaches how to whine or stare to get their way, since that was so obviously the only way Harrison County could defeat HHS.

 

On a serious note, anyone familiar with 10th Region basketball probably will agree that Coach Whitaker and the officials that service the Region probably don't often exchange Christmas cards. Without a doubt, I would say he is probably the least well-liked coach among the coaches in the region by the officials that have him game in and game out. He is not, nor has he ever been, concerned with winning popularity contests...he is ultra competitive and always looking for an edge...probably not a bad trait for kids to learn in this ultra-competitive world.

Both coaches were working the officials. The Fillies came out and played hard, something that has been lacking in some games this year. This is a huge boost going into post season play, Congrats Ladies!

Always helps getting calls when you're the AD too.

Coach Richey is a good coach and therefore certainly works the ref's. It's what good coaches do. I think the biggest turnaround for HHS was the addition of Mr. Coach Richey.

It's not very often that both teams fans agree on officiating after a game, especially a close one.

 

As someone who has been involved in basketball as a coach, layer, official and fan, I've never seen an official win a game for a team. I haven't always agreed with the officials, but it is the players and coaches responsibility to adjust to the way officials call games.

Highlands fans need to go ahead and get over this. The refs were not the reason your team only scored 38 points. This is your lowest point total all season. Maybe you need to take into consideration that you just had an off night on the offensive end and move on. It happens to the best of us.
