February 19, 200818 yr When I asked them how they felt about Americans, they said that most Europeans they knew like Americans, but they also said most do hate Bush... Well, I guess I could be wrong (it would be the first time :sssh:) but I really doubt that the America hating is as exaggerated as the media seems to portray. This is obvious but I was thinking about it today, the media always gives the worst picture they can give, like they are with the "recession" and every thing right now. I guess it is the best way to get viewers.

February 19, 200818 yr they also said most do hate Bush... Well, they'll just have to live with it for another 11 months or so.
February 19, 200818 yr Thanks for saving me some research time. Anytime I read "I got this in an email", it's guilty till proven innocent. Exactly my thought. I have seen enough things from Jay, Robin Williams and Lee Iacoca to last me a lifetime.
February 19, 200818 yr I am a baby boomer who is not complaining. I think most Americans know how good we have it. We only have to turn on one of our more-than-one tv sets to know that. I feel very lucky to have been born in this country. Is that "happiness" referring to happiness in personal life vs. "Are you happy with our government?' I dont think there is anything wrong with being unhappy with certain aspects of our government. Health Care, poverty, education, and losing jobs to other countries are a few of the real problems that we face today. Nothing wrong with being unhappy (if you are) about how our leaders are dealing with those issues, especially if you have personal experience with those issues. Many families have been financially devastated by things totally out of their control. That would make me "unhappy." However, I will agree that the press looks for doom and gloom and can't wait to sensationalize it. I would hope that most people will not allow the press to dictate how happy they are.
February 19, 200818 yr BOTTOM-LINE: As a Nation we are spoiled and it is simple to see. Loved the article, loved it. It made some great points. Yellow journalism, we only get the news the media wants us to get. I have dear friends in Iraq and they tell me through letters and an occasional phone call from one of their family members that there is a great deal of good that is going on in the Middle East!
