Which team from Louisville should be considered the best EVER? I know that now-defunct Louisville Flaget had some great teams many decades ago, and that Manual won a national championship in the first half of the 20th century. Of course, the Big Three (Trinity, Male, and Saint Xavier) have had some great squads. Which squad was the greatest ever, and why??? Keep in mind... I'm talking about the greatest team from Louisville ever, not the greatest overall Louisville football program ever (i.e. I want to hear about specific years).

2002 - Trinity, is the best team that I have ever seen play in KY.

I am a diehard Trinity grad and think that one of their teams would probably rank out as #1, but I remember watching the old Thomas Jefferson Team in 1971 with Mike Northington, Tony Gray, etc. They were undefeated all the way to championship game and tied Flaget 6-6. They had like 6 shutouts and only gave up 64 points all season. I thought they were as good a high school team as I had seen, and they still have to rank among the best.

^ That may be....but the argument has to lie, that you would likely havce to be undefeated, and un-tied....or Flaget could argue they were the best that year...

Oh, I agree, the tie in the playoffs has to hurt them. I like the 2002 Rock team, but the 88-90 teams could also rank right there. I just remember watching TJ put up 50-60 points on good teams that year and Northington and Gray would sit the second half. I did not go to the championship game but I seem to remember a deal about a big storm or something,maybe that is why it was only 6-6. Any help out there?

1970 Butler Bears. Beat Trinity 20 - 0 for the state. 10 out of the 11 defensive players received full scholarships. Thier were 3 All State players on that TEAM

1970 Butler may be a winner, they gave up 25 points all season, in a 12 game season....they had 9 shutouts....wowzer.

Hard to argue against many of the Rocks' teams. The 2000 Male team that blew up Trinity in the State Championship was one of the best I have ever seen. That team had more talent than UK and UL, combined.

The best Male team didn't even win the title: 1994's Bulldogs that St. X upset behind Tendai.

I will agree that the 94 Male team with Redman, Ibn Green, Tony Driver, Hackett, etc, might be the best Male team ever, certainly the best Male team not to win a Championship. Undefeated until championship game with 8 games over 50 points, 5 shutouts, etc.
