All-Americans VS. Pro

Featured Replies

I would imagine guys like Crawford and Pena would feel like they were getting extra BP in.

Any other sport and I agree. Baseball's a different animal. If a particular pitcher is "on", he could be tough to hit regardless of level. Some of these kids are throwing in the mid 90's with really good movement and can locate multiple pitches. That's a lot of what MLB'ers face on a daily basis.

If the amateurs were to win a game, it would be very low scoring. One thing's for sure, the college All-Americans would definitely out hustle them...

Sure, that COULD happen. And in basketball, a college all-star team might have a shot against the Timberwolves if they come out and hit 20 three-pointers. Football, no chance. But in a series, more times than not, they would ALL be sweeps.

So wouldn't the answer be yes?

No way in the NFL or NBA. They wouldn't be able to get 20 3's off. But, those are different animals than baseball.

No. One game, yes, baseball and basketball would have a chance, although a very small chance. Series, no way.

Isn't that what he's saying here? I think he left a few words out of the last sentence but he's asking if they could win one game in a three game series. Right?

The argument is that if LAST YEARS Tampa Bay Devil Rays (the worst team in baseball last year) played a three game series against the College D-1 All-American Team from last year , The All-American team would take at least one of the three game series.

Touche'....:irked:

Yeah, I was caught up in the "series" thing. Still, I would say a majority of the series would end up in a sweep. Hard to put a number on the odds but they'd be very, very small. Like one in a million.... :D

The college team would definitely win at least a game with aluminum bats.

Level the playing field by making them use wooden bats and I'll take any MLB team.

The worst pro team in any sport ever, could the best college team ever in a series. In this case, its a clean sweep.
