Clemens tried to influence a witness. Why else invite her to his house before he/they turned her name over to the Committee. I hated that Clemens used his Republican clout to get in good favor with the members of the council. The old dude from Indiana was a joke. His aide had to get in his ear multiple times to remind him what he was talking about and on one instance, to inform him he was asking the wrong questions. The other Congressman from IN seemed like he didn't let the fact Clemens was a Republican and friends with the Bushes, influence him. I think McNamee is a scum, but I don't think he's lying about Clemens. I've been telling people forever that Clemens was on steroids. Steroids are used for recovery and a power pitcher has the shortest time of recovery before his next start.

 

The Democrat from Missouri who was ripping the investigator from the Mitchell report should've been out there when Maxerman was reading the statement from Clemen's nanny about being at Canseco's party. He was ripping the investigator about that being untrue. Looks as if that dude should've read the complete report and witness statements for the day. What a moron.

 

I would've loved to have seen Andy Petitte at the table with McNamee and Clemens. I though Clemens was lying through his teeth.

Anyone find it remotely odd that the only third party source that supports anything that Clemens testified to is Jose Canseco?

 

McNamee said Pettite and Knoblauch used and, sure enough, they did. Then he said something REALLY outrageous - he said that he injected Clemens' wife. No way that can be true! But, crazy as though it seemed, that also turned out to be dead on. Clemens appears to be the only person he fingered in which he fabricated the entire story.

I understand what you are saying, but a lot of what Canseco wrote has been confirmed. Defamed yes, dishonest...I'm not so sure. However, I believe that Canseco has a little, to use your term, "Roger Idolitis." So, I believe that what he says about Clemens should be taken with a grain of salt. I was just saying that it doesn't surprise me that he was supporting Clemens b/c of his past writings.

You're right. He's not. He loses credibility regarding the issue of the Florida date-rape incident and the fact that he had been less than forthright with some of his earlier statements. However, he earns major credibility points given that things he has already testified to regarding athletes using illegal substances has already been borne out to be true. I find it slightly amusing when people say that his story can't be trusted because he's a "drug dealer." Who better to get inside information from on the users and suppliers of illegal drugs than a drug dealer? And as for those who say McNamee is a vile, despicable worth piece of garbage, exactly what does it say about Clemens that he used him as his personal trainer for so long, including after Clemens was aware that he injected his wife with HGH? Class act that Clemens.

I voted "still can't decide". I can be convinced that I believe McName one day and then see something that just doesn't add up, same way with believing Clemens. I am a big Clemens fan but I certainly do not think that he is a saint. Clemens very well could be guilty, that's what it looks like now and wouldn't suprise me. I also think that this McName clown is in things for himself as well, not a lot is convincing me that he is all that reliable either.

 

I don't think that either one could exactly write a book on credibility at this time.

To anyone that thinks Radomski is not believable because he is a convicted felon (for steroid distribution), I would ask - who would be a better source of information about illegal steroid activity than someone like him? None of the information he has given to federal investigators has been discredited to this point. Sometimes you have to get information from scummy people to catch other scummy people in illegal acticity. It'd be nice if the Pope or Clemen's mother were the ones providing information on him, but just not reasonable.

I'm a Clemens fans and have been, since his college days. If this information is accurate, it's extremely hurtful to any of his previous claims and denials.
