Moss is going to be the real thing. I think she had around 10 at the half and not sure what she ended up with but she is one heck of an athlete. This was the best I've seen SK play in a while. Farris missed most of the game due to fouls the rest picked up the slack. I think Tolliver scored somewhere in the upper 20's, the majority of them coming close to the rim.

Congrats to SK. Looks like they played good tonight. Their a tough team.

According to the stat sheet. Tolliver had 32. Sydney Moss had 18.

 

Tolliver came alive in the second half with 22 of 32 in the 3rd and 4th. Moss did have 10 at the half.

It was me. We're doing the free throw challenge in whatever gym we go to. It's getting down to the end of the season. With folks having senior night and the such, wasn't sure if we would get it in last night or not.

It's been 27 years since I have been in the Simon Kenton Gym. Can't remember, but I think something special happened that year. I don't remember. It's senior night in Independence. Sam Wormald, Jessica Farris and Lauren Conley were honored before the game for their contributions to the Lady Pioneers.

 

The first quarter started off a but slow for Ryle. The Lady Pioneers got into some early foul trouble, but Ryle could not take advantage. the Lady Raiders went 0-5 from the free throw line in the quarter. That along with Sydni Wainscott's 5 points off the bench, put the Lady Pioneers up by 10, 18-8 after eight minutes.

 

The second quarter saw quite a bit of fast break action, especially in the last 3 minutes. Sydney Moss had 10 of her 18 points in the first half for Ryle, but at the half, the Lady Pioneers extended the lead to 13, 33-20.

 

J.J. Mulberry and Kristen Jennings took part in the ClassX Free Throw Challenge at halftime. Although Kristen hit 2 of 10, pizza was delivered to both participants.

 

Both teams switched to zone defense starting out the second half. Chalsea Tolliver came alive in the third by dropping 10 of the Lady Pioneers 14 points in the quarter. The Lady Raiders were held to just 9 points coming out of halftime and going into the 4th quarter. The Lady Pioneer lead jumped to 18 going into the final quarter, 47-29.

 

Chelsea Tolliver continued her run into the 4th quarter, adding 12 more for a game high 32 points. Morgan McLeish added 8 for the Lady Raiders, but not enough to overcome the large deficit. Simon Kenton took the game with a 65-45 final.

Simon Kenton goes to 19-7 with the win. they are next in action against Shelby County on the road on Saturday night.

 

Ryle goes to 16-5 on the season with the defeat. The Lady Raiders travel to Bellevue to take on the Lady Tigers on Saturday night as well.

Glad to see SK is back on track. I wouldn't crown them 8th region champs just yet. Shelby County looks better than they were last year. I always give the edge to the team with the toughest schedule. Also, there is a ton of pressure when it's all on the line and the advantage also seems to go to the teams/coaches that have "been there done that".

 

I like Coach Stowers a lot, but he has been known to take his team out of a game mentally. In a "one-n-done" atmosphere that can be dangerous.
