I agree with AcesFull. The vote was 81-16. Him being there was irrelevant and the man's got a lot on his plate.

Even as someone who could sure use the money, this whole plan is a huge mistake, IMO.

 

I don't agree with you often in the political arena, but I agree with you in this case. This is a silly "feel good" measure that accomplishes nothing long-term. IF I'm not completely phased out and I get any of this money, I'm buying new guitars..nothing else. Nothing for the wife or kids, just guitars for me. Perhaps an amp too. We'll just have to see.......................

Maybe so but it will certainly help pay for my daughter's wedding in November .:thumb: Either the florist or the caterer will enjoy my tax rebate .

The economy is going to have recession and expansion phases, no matter what the government will do. This surely can't hurt. I don't see why it is a problem.

If what you say is true, and I believe it is, then let the ebb and flow occur naturally. This is spending money the country really doesn't have to spend, and won't change a thing. It's fiscally irresponsible, IMO.

Been contemplating it and I think it is good for what it is. It is a bandaid.

 

And long range things to improve the economy are going to be that, long range and not help people losing their homes, struggling over the next 12-18 months.

 

It is a short-term investment. That simple.

 

If this is the ONLY move that is made, than it is the wrong move.

 

But if they follow with long-range moves (not sure what those are) to strengthen the economy, this becomes a good move.

 

Same as the war. The war develops an American ally and democratic country in Iraq 30 years from now, it is a good move. If it fails as many Middle East moves have failed over the last 100 years, than it is a wasted move.

To do that either you have to have a populace that is willing to take the bad times during the ebb and flow and not want politicians to make the bad times go away or politicians willing to be voted out of office when they don't make those bad times go away.

 

This country presently has neither.
