February 7, 200818 yr Thank you very much. I think she's fine, her sister was in the high school and they're both home safe, but the little one who is 10 may struggle with it all. She's a tough little girl but this isn't your everyday trauma. My youngest is 9 and he thinks his teacher is fantastic, I can't imagine him witnessing something like that. Prayers going out for these kids, your cousin plus all of the others involved as well. Certainly a traumatic situation for a young child to have to witness and go through. Hopefully they can get counseling and all will work out without any long term problems. I agree in that I couldn't imagine a young child having to witness something like that. Earlier today WSAZ news interviewed one of the kids that were in this classroom at the time. (the little girl was with her grandmother after they had been released/picked up from school). The little girl said that she had ran and "hid" in a closet and heard the shots and her teacher yelling/screaming. When they got out of the coat room the girl said that her teacher was on the floor with blood on her. How terribly sad for a young girl (or any child or adult for that matter) to have to witness/go through something like this. My heart goes aout to all involved at Portsmouth Notre Dame Elementary. I would hope that all parents give their child a big hug today when they come home from school. A story like this puts everything into perspective and reminds us all of what is really important.

I am not sure on who the first woman was that was stabbed. I did take it that the second woman shot and stabbed (teacher) was the ex wife and had a restraining order of some type. Details are still kind of unclear and regardless is just a sad situation. The gunman/stabber did take his own life at a nearby home after the incident at the school.
February 7, 200818 yr My my how twisted some lives can become. My hope is for these young children to ??? I really don't know what they should do or what I would do if it were my child. So very upsetting what has become of our world.
